No. I also hope to win the lottery but I do not think it will happen. That doesn't mean I would avoid a conversation about what I would do with the winnings out of fear that I would be disappointed when it doesn't happen.

I would hope that the Flames could add to Andersson to get Misa instead of accepting a package for Andersson. That would make the Sharks an auto-winner of the Andersson bidding war instead of potentially second place to the Red Wings.

Anyway, the speed in which people show up here to douse hope is saddening.

I do not know that the extension requirement needs to be as hard as that. There is still a bunch of time between now and the trade deadline. If Andersson won't accept an extension after being traded to Detroit, they would know that there is still a market of 3-4 teams willing to pony up for Andersson and then trade him again.

It would be unfortunate to have a repeat of the Rantanen situation as that would likely make GMs even more gun-shy about trading for players without an extension... but it is definitely early enough in the season to get full value back on re-trading Andersson.
