Drury really did crater that team to start last season.
Won the presidents trophy in 2024. Had a slow start in 2024-25, and decided that they needed to run Trouba and Kreider out of town and the team just hasn't been the same since.

Rangers announce they need a tool. JT Miller to the rescue!

Trocheck is decent at $5.625M
Panarin could get a haul as the premier rental available.
I don't see them moving Fox, or Gavrikov. Borgen is probably some what untradeable.
Soucy maybe get a mid round pick as a rental.
Doubt Shesterkin is going anywhere, a team looking for goaltending depth likely takes a stab at Jonathan Quick.
|
I don't think they could easily move Zibanejad or Miller because they both have full NMCs. Even Panarin has one, so the players control everything. It would be great if they all gave Drury the middle finger for how he handled Goodrow and Trouba.
I bet Trochek would be a very coveted piece.

They F-ed this up really bad.
They had a core that included a Norris winner, a Vezina winner, a 120 point forward, a 90 point centre, and multiple great depth forwards. Then they added a #1 overall pick, a #2 overall pick, and two more top ten picks...but somehow still suck.

They are 6th last right now and 4 teams all with a game or 2 on hand and 3 points back. They are just as much in the McKenna race as we are.
They ship out $16M in cap, draft a top 3 pick and sign a big UFA. Potentially have 4 1sts this year as they already have Carolina's 1st this year.
I really don't see why they can't do a quick flip and be set move forward with one trade deadline of selling.

It's funny - when the Flames were about as far from the bottom as NYR, people were freaking out that they were too good.
Hard to say what Panarin gets as a rental. He's still very good. But a winger, expensive even with some retention, and 34.

I have the feeling that the problem is that management and coaching are not on the same page. The way the team is built, and run, are not compatible. Like many narcissist run companies, the problem is the employees.time to restructure the peasants.
Who do we want to snipe at a discount?

Drury is absolutely awful.
#### the Rangers.
They fall into high picks, wasn’t it two first overall picks?
Fox just chooses them
Panarin falls into their lap.
They have one of the best 5 goalies on the planet.
Zibinijad was just killing it for them, in a trade for Brassard ha.
They will never win any thing ever again.

Can't remember where I saw it now, but there was a tweet suggesting that the Rangers guys with NMC, etc like Miller and Fox, don't want to move.

They can craft a letter to fans, though.

Not to downplay Vancouver's issues, but...
The Rangers had players falling over themselves and willing to take discounts to play there. Vancouver at least drafted most of their own good players. They also had nowhere near the depth that NYR had. I like Demko, but he is not peak Shesterkin.
The Buchnevich situation is a master class on how to waste a valuable asset. Don't engage in meaningful talks with him. Trade him for Blais and a 2nd. Trade Blais back to the same teak for Tarasenko. Let Tarasenko walk.

Imagine what it would be like around here if there were a report that ME blocked a trade for a personal reason like that?
I know it will never happen, but Flame fans need to wake up to the fact that owners are owners for a reason, and they ALL involve themselves sometimes. Not going to try and suggest that ME is a saint, and better than most, but maybe he isn't necessarily the worst, either.
Anyway, Flame away
