Could you imagine calling a call centre and someone just...picked up? Right away.
And then the security questions just infuriate me. You must enter your bank card twice then your passcode and they finally answer. Can I have your bank card number. No, I just inputted that. Can I have your overdraft protection limit on one of your accounts. I have zero idea what any of them are and no one else on earth does. I don't even know what my credit limits are.
A few times they have hung up on me because I did not know my overdraft limits.
But it's for your security sir, no it isn't, it's to frustrate and waste time as to discourage me from phoning the next time so we can outsource more reps and dwindle it down to zero.
You just know some person with shoulder pads is trumpeting that they have lowered call volumes by X%.
They don't like when you ask if you could just give a semen sample to make this easier.
I just called the Rogers together with Shaw support number(near impossible to find). A recording said if I was over 50 I had been approved for a special offer, and to press to 1 accept. I did not press 1. I then was told I could press 1 to connect automatically to the new 1-800 number for a charge of $2.99. I did not press 1. To be connected to directory assistance press 2, or you may hangup at any time.

So I called Rogers support instead.
Did we ever get hosed with that Rogers/Shaw merger.

I made out like a bandit. Had a bunch of Shaw stock that went up about 30%, and had my cell phones with Shaw. Rogers was forced to grandfather in the plans until the end of 2026, so my wife and I pay $11.50 a month total for two cell phone plans with 4 gig of data each. Not a load, but we don't use data much. Except for this time, when my wife accidentally approved Tidal to download her music over 5G. And it's gone. Whoops. Hence the call.
I know, in general, Canadians got ####ed. But I, specifically, am still way ahead.
