Seeing as how Drury was the architect of their decline, I can't imagine he survives long enough to see the end of this plan.

I think its weird to send a letter that says 'we suck'...everyone that might care already knows they suck.

Not once did the Rangers mention a rebiggle.
What a bunch of hacks.

I don't understand this necessity. Why do the NYR feel the need to come out and announce this? Just make transactions and let them speak for themselves. Not all transactions will point way in a vacuum. There are other teams trying to make sure they get the best deal and you get the worst deal. I hate it from the Flames and the fans too. "Rebuild. Retool. Refresh. Restart. Reforge. Refry. WHICH IS IT?!"
It's a word. And they are synonyms. And people fight over the semantics. And shred people who didn't choose the right word from the thesaurus under "start over".

They have Miller and Zib locked up long term. Doubtful retooling around them will work, but i'm not sure what else they can do. They have quite a few guys locked in long term to big money.
Bringing in Miller was disastrous for them.

And they have Shesterkin. It would tough to sink to the bottom of the standings with him there.
This failed re-build is a fascinating one.
They got the benefit of high picks, but they ended up being inconsequential.
Then they got dragged back into contention when Panarin and Fox picked them, and Shesterkin emerged as an elite tender.
A weird combination of things.

This is why I think it’s silly to announce these things. You never know what falls into (or out of) your lap. You can say you’re rebuilding but if you end up with a late round superstar goaltender that prevents you from being rock bottom, what do you do? Whatever it is, it’s an adjustment of the plan.

Sounds like Shesterkin might be out long term based on the silence around his injury while he also references injuries as a reason for re-tool in the letter.

Huh. A retool instead of a rebiggle? In the year 2026? Good luck with that one, chumps!
