We aren't getting a blue chip prospect for Andersson, and in the context of a trade with a 1st round pick (and potentially more), it's good value

Right shot center from Alberta who was a top 10 pick 3 years ago? Fits a need and gives the flames a second first rounder from 2023 stretching their streak to 4 straight drafts with 2 first round prospects and possibly 5 if they get the Wings 2027 1st.

You don't get why people are excited about a top 10 pick center prospect?

That's the ideal return to Andersson. If he was some sort of elite prospect no one in their right mind would trade that for a rental.

I’d be happy to have Danielson, but I see a few posters suggesting he has 1/2 C upside which I don’t think is very likely. Could end up being a great Backlund replacement though

Absolute dream would be to get Danielson and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard in the same trade. Two RHS forwards, both big, one a power winger.

Also disagree that Danielson is mid. He's a 6'2 RHS C from Alberta, great WHL stats, and almost .5 ppg playing center on a top AHL team last year as a rookie. NHL fixture this year on a club that is known to sit non- 200 foot players in the AHL for multiple years until they're ready.

I think he's not flashy but people are underselling him huge.

I thought Andersson wasn't willing to sign an extension in Detroit? I highly doubt Danielson would be part of the return unless there is an extension involved.

Pinder was banging this drum about Danielson being nothing but a future Backlund.

Watching his highlights, he can skate, has vision, high level stick handling, looks like he has all the tools to be a top 6 centre to me.

His first year in the AHL wasn’t great but you don’t have to dominate that first year in order to become a top 6 player. Some guys just take longer to adjust.
