Zadorov was traded for picks
Lindholm was traded for picks, prospects and a cap dump
Markstom was traded for picks and a 23 year old

I guess Hanifin was traded for a first and an older player but considering he wasnt a regular NHLer not sure if that is a retool move

There certainly wasn't a "25 year old retool player in ever deal"

I can see how you misinterpreted my comment. His trades were not all futures. He got current players and picks. Not prospects and picks. The only prospect he got was Brz. Frost, farabee, Sharangovich, Bahl are young retool nhler adds. Not prospects. I was simply stating Conroy hadn’t really made future only trades they have all included a piece for “now”

I think the response I gave took issue with with the ‘and picks’ part of your statement ‘All his other trades have been for retooling. Younger but not prospects and picks’ which is clearly untrue, Conroy has almost prioritized picks while also valuing adding young nhl ready talent that has some experience and these are your Bahl, Sharangovich, Frost, Farabee players but hey, if your moving out as much of the roster as you are you still need warm bodies and a cap floor to meet. I’m not sure what else CC can do to make people realize we are rebuilding and it’s going to be even harder to debate against that fact after the Andersson trade and hopefully the Coleman and Kadri ones too though if those waited one more year it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

Gru was a prospect. May not end up much but he was certainly a prospect.
I also don't think they probably really were after Miro - it just was the best they could do once it became clear Vegas was in control

The more I think about it, this decision (signing long term) is probably one Rasmus wants to do with his family and agent together. Now that the team is headed home, it probably makes it a bit easier. They have probably chatted a lot about it, but in person is probably easier.

The best way to not be called out for making #### up is to not make #### up...and if its an honest mistake just say "my bad fellas, forgot about those trades" and move on when presented with the actual facts.

doubling and tripling down after being proven wrong is what makes these things go off the rails

Rebuild doesn't always have to equal intentional tank, I'd argue most teams that start rebuilding don't intentionally tank.

It just eventually happens and you have a couple bad years and draft high.

Pittsburgh tanked to get Mario (they traded their goalies away and played with an ECHL guy IIRC). But that’s kind of the extent of it. Some teams didn’t even lean into it - Edmonton lucked out into McDavid.
