Flames are playing well but every now and then just break down defensively.

Morton is 26, Hunt is 30. If you don't understand more time for player development I don't know what to tell you. By your logic Ryan Lomberg should be better than Matvei Gridin. Just a ridiculous take.

3 and a half years difference not 5
Guys who turn 27 this year aren't usually considered deveolping
Gridin is 19

The thing is we know what Hunt is. We don't know what some of these younger players are yet, and it would be nice to see them play.

A good game will drive up the trade bidding war for Hunt.

The team listing had Hunt at 29 so I guess they didn't update after the beginning of the year. So it's 3.5 and not 5.
Morton is 26 and I think they are both probably as developed as they are going to get. So Morton is not "far better".
As for Gridin v Lomberg - that's a ridiculous attempt at an analogy. They have different roles, whereas Morton and Hunt have the same role.

It would still be nice to play Morton on the 4th line. And then Gridin can go in for Huberdeau or someone for a few games.
I feel like it would bring some more excitement into these games to try out some of the kids.

There's really no reason to play Morton over Hunt. And they play different positions.
Gridin has played more games than Hunt BTW. Huberdeau isn't coming out. Plus they can only bring up a certain number of players. Max roster six is 23 IIRC.

What a play by Bedard, I really wish McKenna/Stenberg will be making such plays for the Flames in a year or two.

You sign guys like Hunt, Kirkland and Morton to fill out your AHL roster and occassionally fill out your NHL roster. But I suspect if anyone is hoping that Morton is an NHL player they will be disappointed.
