Comix has his perspective and he doesn't hold them back, but it does not hurt anything to have paid insiders comments posted in a rumours / speculation thread. I think that the reverse argument from those like Dino is also fair, namely these paid insiders know that these get attention and clicks - which drives traffic to their sites. That is what the insiders are paid to do.

It didn't impact me in any way, I'm not sitting here crying over things. It's friggin' relevant to this specific thread.

You also posted a quote from a legit insider. And people go crazy over gifs and worship them lol.
I actually like the gifs and think there are insiders on here, I just find it funny that some people lose their mind if something is posted that could possibly be seen as negative about the Flames.

Post whatever you like...comment whatever you like, I will do the same.
You didn't just post the link though you commented on the post that it will "continue piss us all off." IMO Leburn knows a comment like this will rile up the fanbase and get many pissed off comments despite it not being based in reality. (clickbait)
apparently it worked, here we are

mind not lost...thanks
you are the one getting pissed about a tweet not based in reality and saying the Flames are in fact Buffalo...people are free to post whatever they like. I never said not to post...if I disagree with the content I am free to share.
Like do you honestly think a Murray Edwards, in the last day or so told Leburn personally that the Flames "don't want to be Buffalo"
We know these players are being shopped for 1sts and prospects its pretty irrelevant...he had no actual information so he went with good old trusty to get some eyeballs.

I would really enjoy if he did a summary of his gifs and what they each meant after the fact when his known info is no longer under secrecy. The guesses are wild and range from what’s in the gif to who’s in the gif to what color hat someone has on in a gif. I would just like to know the train of thought and if anyone is ever on to something with their guesses.
Even if he doesn’t, that’s fine to. It brings people happiness and generates positivity. At least from most. It’s ok if you don’t like them. There’s room for everyone’s views and opinions, so long as they’re respectful.

In truth, if Murray did say the Flames don't want to be Buffalo then I agree with him. No one wants to be Buffalo; it's basically a mantra across the remaining 31 franchises.

Well said and it was just my opinion on the matter.
Hopefully the trade happens sooner rather than later and we can start dissecting what really matters and not gifs LOL

I'd personally be way more worried if he came out and said we were trying to emulate the Buffalo decade +++ long rebuild. Sign me up for a shorter rebiggle where they trade off older players for draft capital and younger prospects. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Murray may not want to be Buffalo...but let's not pretend that our standing is that much better. I doubt there are many league wide who want to be the Calgary of the NHL.

True, its just such a no information tweet...like I'm pretty sure he has been saying the same thing once a month for 3+ years
Flames are trading a older pending UFA that would sign here for a 1st and a prospect give or take. Like what is the problem here? Why would anyone be pissed off.

High end prospects still coming too?
When does Buffalo stop being the example. They are 5 points back of Montreal with 2 games on hand and Montreal is consistently labeled one of the next cup contenders.

Lebrun could say the opposite that the Flames are engaging multiple teams on their veteran players and I GUARANTEE you that gets more clicks and views from this fanbase and others than saying the team won’t burn it to the ground.
If you are saying the Flames have burned it to the ground the last 3 years that is certainly a difference of opinion. They traded 1 player at the 2023 draft who was entering the last year of his deal and who asked out when they wouldn’t offer him a long term extension. They traded 4 other free agents that year as they were missing the playoffs and could not reach agreements. They traded their goalie in the 2024 offseason and shipped off a winger for a 2nd in the last year of his deal in the summer of 2024. That was the last time this team subtracted a player from the lineup without bringing back a player. They haven’t done anything to resemble tearing it down for a year and a half. That will change very soon with Rasmus getting dealt.
Lebrun didn’t say the flames are not rebuilding he just said they are not tearing it right to the ground which is open to interpretation

They need to make the playoffs. With Eichel the Sabres had a 10 game winning streak and still ended up missing the playoffs. They need to get to the dance before people stop referring to them as the worst franchise in the league as they are currently holding the record for most consecutive years with a playoff miss

Buffalo isn't really the example that should be used as the cautionary tale. They just made a series of massive blunders.
The cautionary tales are the re-builds that look promising, with a bevy of high picks and prospects, and it takes the team back to the mushy middle and no further.
Right now for me it's the LA Kings.
They were considered to have the best prospect pool for a number of years. Now does anyone think they are building towards a contender. Not even close.
Similarly you can't point to Pittsburgh (Crosby), Edmonton (McDavid), SJ (Celibrini) as examples of what you need to do because those players don't come along very often. Takes a lot of luck.
The question is how do you build a contender if you DON'T get a player of that stature. if you end up being lucky enough - great. But chances are you won't. And you shouldn't assume you will.

Big deal? The Flames were 2nd overall and won 2 division titles. It will take the Sabres a while to not be the Sabres

Buffalo is the example because they got Eichel and STILL ####ed it up

People on this site positively drooled over their prospect pool.
