It’s also his and his family’s life… yes he’s an “asset” but he’s also a person. Every single one of us would do what’s best for our family over doing what’s best for our employer

Sure, it's his right to do that. I agree completely.
I would also expect people's opinions of me to change based on actions i take. That is exactly what is happening here. I am not saying he's a Bad person or the worst or morally wrong, I am just saying that I - as a fan - respect him less for actions like this.

I also respect people less for the actions that I imagine them doing.
(I still can't believe you did that with a donkey Monahammer!)

Weird take. He could just tell the Flames to piss off on extension talk and to trade him to one of his NTC-approved teams for whatever rental price they can get for him, and he'll get bank when he goes to free agency.
He's working with Conroy on a potential extension to increase his value in the trade for Calgary (and yeah, maybe get that extra year)... and you lose respect for him because of that?

Why would you respect someone less for negotiating the best deal he can on a new contract? It's nothing less than he could do at the end of the season anyway.

I don't have an issue with someone wanting to have a say on where he and his family lives. He's earned that right.

Yeah, I don't care what all of you think. And I disagree with this notion that he's working hard at it with Conroy.

I understand your frustrations. One thing I'd say is that all of this info and detail is not anything he himself came out and advised as far as I know. It's not to suggest it's not true, but he has done a good job keeping things private between him and his employer. All of the updates we get seem centered around reporting, insiders, etc. And it's exasperated within chat forums like this. I would gather this is all fairly standard procedure and is long withstanding. It's just that we're in a 'here/now' world for news and updates and many with info are protected behind their keyboards so much of the info gets out that the people talking would prefer otherwise.
Again, I see your stance. Just trying to suggest it's a product of our own environment.

Bad take is bad and you love making stuff up to complain about. A month ago it was that the Flames wouldn't even trade Andersson

If you respect him less for some random bull#### that may or may not be true then that says more about you than it does about him.
He's balancing working with the Flames and doing what's best for him and his family. I have a lot of respect for that and how he has handled this entire situation.
For Ras's entire career as a Flames this guy has done nothing but play his bag off. Consistently. Dude has good games and bad games but the work ethic can never be questioned. He wears his heart in his sleeve, plays with a chip on his shoulder and never shied away from being honest with the media.
I respect the #### out of Ras.
One of the best Flames draft picks and an absolute stud of a hockey player. Gonna miss him and his swagger.

Reeks of entitlement.

Is Conroy in Calgary or is he with the team in Chicago?

The thing is - he doesn't have to do anything at all. He can just sit back and let Conroy send him as a rental. But he's not - he's cooperating to the extent he's discussing ANY extension at all.
"Working hard" is (a) relative and (b) something no one knows about if they aren't in the room.

It's a selfless move to gather all this energy currently on the forum, buzzing beneath the surface like so many dive bar neon signs, and force it all directly at yourself by posting an S tier dog poo take. Hats off to monohammer he's not the hero we need but he is the hero we deserve.

Absolutely ridiculous that Andersson not offering to Conroy to take his family to Buffalo for eight and a half years. I've lost all respect for the guy.

Yes, Andersson should sign any 8 year contract that any club puts in front of him! That's definitely what I am saying! SIGN FOR 2 mil a season with Toronto you plug!!

The one thing about doing a trade without extending doesn’t the acquiring team have the ability to offer an 8 year extension as opposed to getting 6 as a UFA? It also gives the team that acquired him the ability to trade him before July 1 for assets does it not?

at the end of the day NHL players have more in common with other working stiffs than you think. it's orders of magnitude, they're just fighting and negotiating for their fair share of the of the pie. Yes, they're fighting for generation wealth, but really if anyone is entitled it's the billionaire owners.
