Sven was the OG "1st prospect of the rebuild" . Too bad things went the way they did for him. Stupid Patrick Selloff. I'm sure that's what Sven says every day he wakes up.

I suspect he mutters more about Hartley.

This was also Feaster's first draft. And he could have picked: Jamie Oleksiak, JT Miller, Joel Armia, Philip Danault, Vlad Namestikov. Or maybe packed the 13 OA with one of the two second rounders and moved up enough to get Scheifele, Brodin or Couturier.

I’m no Feaster fan but at the end of the day no question the 2011 draft was a grade A draft (mostly for Gaudreau of course ) but they got a lot of players - kucherov was the tragic miss of course (as by all accounts he was shortlisted) and that certainly would have guaranteed all would have been forgiven with Sven

Yeah, I remember it was reported that they took Gaudreau with their next pick after Kucherov was picked. They thought they could push it until later in the draft and get both of them, but once Kucherov was picked they knew they had to pick Johnny if he was still available. I think they tried to get too cute and the gamble didn't payoff at least with Kucherov.
