I'd prefer to see the Flames get a high end forward, but having Verhoeff to pair with Parekh could lead to amazing things.
Let's make some trades! My guess is once Andersson and Coleman (and hopefully Kadri) o is gone, the Flames will be a lock for finishing in the bottom two.

Verhoff and Parekh are RHS. Seems unlikely they would play together.

No real updates that haven’t already been shared.
Things are close, it’s not an if at this point it’s when.
Multiple teams have sent offers, the balls in Craig’s court and I believe the framework is likely already done.
I don’t get a sense from what I’m hearing like the teams in question are waiting to after the Olympic break, they want the player now and for years to come in most scenarios.
It’s getting close, we should have good news “soon”

Kadri is too old to get much of a return. Likely 2nd or a 1st with retention. So pretty meh.
Management likely thinks having Frost as your 1C could damage development of everyone more than that's worth.

Do you mean not wanting to wait until after the Olympics given the bit after about wanting the player now?

Lots of proposals around getting Misa out of San Jose. Wonder if they would consider trading him for the 3rd or fourth overall pick to draft Verhoeff.
I could see both the Flames and the Canucks being open to it. And San Jose needs that stud defender they can build around. Might be the best way for them to get they player and for the flames or Canucks to get that top line centre in this draft unless Malholtra is that.

I just hope he takes the most futures heavy deal. I expect at least one player coming back though, hopefully U22

I think 5th pick would still be great, but it seems that the top 4 is what we need and there might be a bit of a drop at 5.
I've read Lawrence in the discussion with McKenna and Stenberg and some have Verhoeff #1. We NEED 1 of these 4 players IMO.

It also is a great position to be in for a team like the Canucks. If they could pass us, it brings huge value to win the lottery and not move up a spot in the draft and not have it count against us for future lottery wins.

There will likely be roster players coming back just because teams may need to clear roster spots and/or cap space (and the Flames may need to add cap hit depending on how much is going out). The important thing to remember is those players aren't the key part of the return, they're just there to balance the numbers. The picks/prospects are the important parts.

"multiple teams", "now and for years to come in most scenarios". Sounds like Andersson is willing to extend in more destinations than just Las Vegas. Could be good news with respect to the return.

It's hard to peg his trade value because of his age but at different times, we've heard "insiders" suggest he'd be a hot commodity.
Has his decline already started? On pace for 14 goals and 57 points. He's had seasons like that points wise before, but he's definitely not scoring goals. The one thing is, they guy is exceptionally durable.
I still think there's a good market for Kadri and he would return a first rounder as well as a decent player who could maybe fill in at center. And I don't know that Flames would have to retain.
The Kadri trade is the one that I would really like to see happen.

Outside of the Crosbys every draft is basically a coin flip whether the top five are stars or just good players.
Still take the best shot you can, but I don’t think 2,3,4,5,6 - even 10 - really matters.

Malholtra is steadily climbing in the rankings and could be in the same conversation as the current top 4 by the draft.

Any feeling on where Ras is with considering signing an extension?
I'm curious what the process looks like, since Craig was allegedly burned on the Hanafin trade. Does he work out extension terms with player, make the terms know to teams looking to add him, wait for teams to send in their best offer then run the teams by Ras for the thumbs up/down?

Pat Steinberg did mention last night that he has a feeling this Rasmus deal is in the final stages as well. He said he doesn't have any direct knowledge, just the sense he is getting is its a good chance it is done by the end of the week.

Kadri is such a frustrating player. Sometimes he looks all world, and sometimes he looks pathetic and gives hardly any effort.

I think it means teams want him to extend. I don't think it necessarily means Andersson wants to extend with them. But it doesn't mean he doesn't either.
I think it depends very much on how much value Andersson places on that 8th year vs. location.

Seems far fetched to me.
SJ, it seems, likely is starting to look at players that can help now as evidenced by their reported interest/ trade proposal for Hamilton. I doubt, very much, Misa would have been part of that deal. Listening to the Kyper and Bourne show about a month ago while the Leafs were getting their heads handed to them, they were discussing a Matthew’s for Misa trade. Since then the Leafs have come to life and Misa had what was described by Wheeler/Pronman ‘the most disappointing WJC performance of any player’.
On any event, not sure why the Flames would trade, hopefully, their highest draft pick in organization history nor why SJ would trade Misa less than a year after drafting him 2OA. Has any team, ever, traded a high pick so quickly? Wade Redden for Bryan Berrard, I guess? Point being, almost never.

I think he has some knowledge and described the situation as the “endgame” as in we are in the final days and moments where Andersson is on the team. Sure sounds like the Flames are getting serious about a move now which makes sense especially if they have more bodies to move to get the big must move player done first
