Yup, he was Marco's backup when they won the PDL Championship that year.
I met him in 2018 on the trip to Edmonton for Calgary Foothills vs FC Edmonton. We were at the Toad and Turtle in Red Deer and he comes by introducing himself to the few fans who were taking the bus up. Had no idea he was with the club as Carducci had been announced and Steph Labbe was trying to play men's soccer at the time.
I hope Shome is the next extension announced. IMO he's the key to the midfield and the poor stretch in the middle of the season coincided with his absence.

Team is moving on from Tom Field and Ayman Sellouf. Have exercised options for Kobza and Myroniuk. Camargo has a club option that got triggered based on performance
They also look to be in talks with a potential extension for Gutierrez.
Nothing on Shome in this news release. I wonder if they do a separate release for him if he is brought back. I wonder if they also announce him as the captain as we have an opening with the departure of Carducci

Fully expect Field to stick around and get signed as an injury replacement sometime in the summer. Solid depth piece, I personally would bring him back
Does Myroniuk still count as U21? He’s got to be close to a make it or break it season
Not surprised about Gutierrez given his struggles last year but I wonder if they get a deal across the line. He and Shome were great together in 2024 though the Kobza has really made that midfield his own now. It sounds like Shome will be back at least according to Bangladeshi reports (which feels weird to type)
Field has always been a depth guy, so either he finally got a bigger role elsewhere, or hes bored with sitting on the bench and is hanging em up. Sellouf on the other hand didn't bring much and I don't think anyone will miss him.
Hopefully a new stadium / better sized stadium is in the cards for Winnipeg if they do get an NSL team (as well as the return of CPL)
When do potential conversations of a spruce meadows expansion start? They have been pushing up to capacity over the last few years. Do they have space to add a stand on the north side in the current location?
I'm not sure if they'd expand the existing stadium much more outside of bringing in a few extra seats for big games. Don't think there's appetite to do anything with the North or West side and they'd have to demolish the warehouse to do anything with the supporters section.
They have plans to build a 12000 seat stadium elsewhere on the grounds and I think once they start selling out the existing stadium they would seriously consider building the new stadium. They aren't selling out the stadium now though.

Fun interview with Tommy. First few minutes spent talking about the snow bowl. Goteh Ntignee broke his hand in the final. Ottawa terribly unprepared with no bench covers and interesting to hear more about how some of the game played out in the conditions they did.

I like bringing him back. I think we only saw a few glimpses of him at his best and in the role he was theoretically brought in to play. Letting him drop deep in possession and ping passes everywhere. He can't make a tackle to save his life but if he's paired alongside Kobza or Shome you can mitigate lots of that. Hopefully he can stay healthy and will be able to make a bigger impact on the field in 2026.
Definitely need to announce Shome. I know Camargo triggered performance clauses and got an extension but is he for sure coming back and not retiring? Any news there? Wonder if a Kobza-Shome-Baldisimo midfield is something we'll see more of next year with less of a #10 role.

Tom Field to Vancouver FC. Vancouver is the 2026 version of "he can always get more minutes on Valour" I guess. But at least he gets the 2 CONCACAF games.
