My kid is in need of a graphing calculator for high school, and having seen the cost of a new one it seemed wise to check if any CPers have an older one gathering dust. I'm told a Texas Instruments model is best, but I'm willing to shop around. PM me if you have one that you don't need. Thanks.

Well. The bad news is that insomnia is a bitch so I went to my office, the good news is its lucky for you! Anyhoodles, I found it!
The good news is you can PM me and make a time to come and pick it up, the bad news is...its dead and I dont have any AAA batteries to put into it...which was to be expected since I havent seen or used this thing in...its gotta be decades.
The good news is...its a TI-83 Plus! The veritable Cadillac of Graphing calculators! Or so I'm inclined to believe.
The bad news is that I cant be certain that it works, but I dont see any reason why it wouldnt once you put new batteries into it.
The good news is that I also found my TI-BAII Plus Financial Calculator, which you can also have if you are so inclined, and it definitely does still work!
Also...they're both free! So I'd classify that as also good news!

I had the TI-84 blue. Then when I got to university I was a big loser for having that thing so I had to keep up with the Jones (or in Engineering the Harpreets) and get an HP 48G. No idea where that ended up.

Yeah, but thats for University Engineering, thats way overkill for High School Math.

Holy Hell! I just checked Amazon and these things are going for between $140-$180!
I thought they were like $80 and even that seemed insane.
I dont think High School Graphing has changed that much over the years to warrant that kind of a cost. Puppet Guy has the right idea, just get one from someone that doesnt use it anymore.
