My guess is that yzerman wants an extension before the trade and conroy won’t let them talk to Anderson until after the trade. Plus my gut tells me Conroy knows exactly which team or teams Anderson would sign an extension with and Detroit is not one of them.

Beyond Hamilton’s disaffection from hockey culture, he’s a very flawed player on the ice. Skating and shooting are high-end. Pretty good passer too. But his play away from the puck is often a gong show. And he’s never shown any desire to get better at the parts of his game where he’s weak (I guess that’s part of the stubborn “I know best” attitude).
When people dismiss criticisms of Parekh’s play without the puck with airy assumptions that he’ll get better, a d-man like Hamilton is a counterpoint. Some guys don’t get better without the puck. Some guys have 15 year careers in the NHL as offensive specialists who get exposed defensively when the heat it is on. And a lot of times, as is the case with Hamilton, it’s because they simply have zero interest in working on that part of their game. Must make coaches tear their hair out.
That’s why four teams have been willing to part with Hamilton, and why he’s never been seriously considered for a best-on-best team since he’s been in the NHL.

At this point is his career, Dougie is a cap dump. It seems you have a personal grudge against Dougie but I would take him back if it came with an asset or if it facilitated a larger deal with New Jersey for one of our trade block players.

How has Fitzgerald not been fired yet? Devils had such promise but the accumulation of poor moves has dragged them down to mediocrity.

They started strong this year and that's probably saved him for now.
Miss the playoffs again this year though and he's probably done.

United with a banger of a post about Dougie. It’s that kind of stuff which makes coming to CP so worthwhile. Insight, aharing facts and some color commentary rolled into one discussion.

Twitter posts above seem to insinuate strong owner involvement, so maybe that has kept him insulated from the consequences of poor decisions.

Dougie certainly remains enigmatic. I think the opinion that he dislikes being a pro hockey player holds some water.
That said he seems to use his platform in a positive way, so he's making the best of it in that regard.
But he isn't coming back here.

I'm not seeing that from Hamilton.
He didn't want to waive his NTC, and now he's unhappy being a healthy scratch for what he feels is just lashing out since he wouldn't waive his NTC.
If he didn't like playing he'd just let NJ LTIR him all year, they probably could based on his injury history.
I think Hamilton likes playing pro hockey, what Hamilton doesn't like probably is Bro Dude Hockey Culture.

That write up was really good. Makes me kinda like Hamilton more now. Reminds me of corporate culture where everyone has to act a certain way and talk a certain talk. Sometimes when you have a guy who just looks at it as work and speaks his mind without the political BS, and is who he is, is refreshing. He does seem disinterested at times without the puck which I'm not sure is something that translates from his off-ice mentality, but from an on-ice talent, he is pretty mediocre. I always appreciated guys like Subban and Bryzgalov who thought of it as a game and no need to get completely down after a loss. Just show up and do your best, no need to BS and frown all the time.

I saw first hand what he was like off the ice with Thea and that alone will keep the guy forever in my good books. I'd also agree he has all the tools to be an on ice terror, but there's often so much going on at the pro level that it doesn't turn out for a lot of guys for a lot of different reasons. Nothing wrong with that, it's also what makes it so hard to predict which prospects will turn into superstars - as evidenced by countless posts here about various prospects. How many turn out the way we thought? And why didn't the ones we thought would work out make it?
So much goes on at the pro level and we only see a small part of it as fans. Of course we're also the first to criticize and lay blame when it doesn't turn out like we thought it should. As teenagers and early twenty somethings it's hard to remember that they're really just still kids. Super talented, but often super immature too.
Pretty sure I would have no interest playing in a Canadian city if I was one of these kids just because of the added pressure and interest from the fans. That alone would be enough to drive most people crazy.

I wonder if Rasmus asked to not be traded until after tonight. The Gaudreaus are obviously like family and you can see all the time he is spending with them while in Columbus.

If a deal were that close and he made that request then I'd just sit him out entirely tonight.
I doubt thats the case though.

Considering the Danielson + 2027 1st rumour, I wonder how the Sharks come in as a serious bidder? - Bystedt is a good prospect but he isn't Danielson-good.
- The Red Wings and Sharks 1sts will be very similar if they upgrade their roster (late round pick).
- Do they pick a prospect that is better than Bystedt to close the gap? Or do they add another asset (prospect or pick)?
Would Bystedt + both 2026 1sts match the Red Wings value? Or Bysted + Musty + 1st?

I think if that Danielson and a 1st deal was legitimate something would have already gone down and teams like the Sharks would have had to make an offer. That's a circle around the league and see if anyone wants to beat it level deal to get a recent 9th overall pick and a 1st rounder. Obviously we are all guessing but a few days on, it feels like it was either more made up internet fluff or Rasmus wouldn't sign there.

I'm at the point where I don't trust any alleged "insider" unless its Friedman or Seravalli telling me something is imminent and naming players involved.

Not sure myself, but negotiations on contracts certainly take a little bit of time. It very well may be dead but also could be in the negotiation stage on the contract.

By the time it gets to them it's done and will be public anyway shortly. The best they EVER have is guesses, based on hearsay, rumours andn trickle-down placement of "messages" by certain GMs.
I trust "our" insiders far more.

I believe that offer was based on an extension in place, which does not appear to be happening.
