Sweet. After years of using a PC, I finally bought a Mac this year, and I'll never be going back.

I think that this is a valid question for people, like myself, who aren't as familiar with apple computers.

I just wish I could get an Apple for a little bit less than both arms & legs...I am so tempted sometimes just by how pretty they are! (sad but true)

If it's an honest question that's a different story I suppose...I may have jumped the gun a bit because of the past threads on macs that have been here.
Honestly the best way to see why people love macs is to go into bestbuy or london drugs and fool around on one for yourself.

That's wierd, I've had 3 different PC's, and I have never had any of them freeze ever.... I haven't needed to get any repairs done either in over a year....

well, i've used both extensively for a number of different iterations of both products.
i find the apple commercials to be extremely disingenious...much like i find statements of microsoft products odd...as in "new is all that". everyone knows that it takes 3 iterations of product for microsoft to deliver everything promised.
in my experience and for me fwiw, its PC all the way though. i hate having everything locked down for me and being told how things will work.
i certainly do understand why people would prefer the apple products, but they aren't for me. i guess it depends what you are doing with the product.

I actually sort of find the picture managing to be a little annoying. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong.
I just like my Mac because it's different. Fairly easy to use once I got things figured out, and it's got everything I need in a computer. It's a Macbook. I don't game, all I really need is a computer for the internet, email, and some minor programs. Easily the best laptop I've ever had.

I've clicked around on imac's in apple stores but to me they are less intuitive than windows. Maybe I have to spend time with them, the other thing is that I use excel extensively and their version seemed to have training wheels on it.
I must be missing out on something because I have a dell XPS laptop that works great, runs vista well and never crashes ... maybe I'm just lucky based on all the horror stories I hear/read.
They do look cool though.

Consider yourself lucky. In my experience (I'm a computer tech and support about 1000 PCs and 250 Macs) both OS X and Windows XP are equally reliable. If Windows crashes, nine times out of ten it's a problem with a software application or a bad driver, not Windows itself.
Don't get me started on Vista, though...

I made the switch last year when I got my MacBook pro. But I will admit, I feel it is necessary to also have a windows operating machine for programs and certain thing I use my PC for. But Mac can run windows too, so no prob.
I just ordered my new iMac with education discount. I can't wait for it. I almost bought one 2 weeks ago but I heard a rumor they were releasing a new one on the 7th. Not only did Apple boost the processor speed, and slick redesign, they even lowered the price by $200 on the 20 inch.
$1654 for 20 inch iMac, 500GB HD and wireless KB and mouse. Oh yes, I got a free 4gb iPod nano too with my education discount. I can not wait for it.

Another reason I love my Mac ... virtually no viruses. I've had one in 18 years. And I don't run anti-virus software.
