The story is a little different than the headline. “Wants to play for Calgary” in the headline. “I’d be happy to play for Calgary if they draft me” is essentially what he says.

I do know he has some ties to the city of Calgary currently, but he doesnt get to pick where he goes obviously. He'll happily go to whatever team drafts him.

Yeah, Steinberg has openly said that if the opportunity is there, McKenna would love to be a Flame - he has been on this a while now.

Honestly hope we end up with enough assets that come draft day even if we don't have 1st that we can work out a deal where we get to draft McKenna.

Feels like a world where all top 4 teams can leave happy with the draft.
The fact there is discrepancies on who is first overall, leaves room for all 4 teams to get their guy.

I suppose he could pull an Adam Fox and publicly (or in pre-draft interviews) state that he won't sign with any other team. But I suspect the league wouldn't allow that.
