They were forced into that trade and tried for months to avoid it, it was not some grand proactive decision.

Ah, I guess listening to a single word is more pertinent than listening to the entire clip and all the content and context therein.

I liked the deal too
Let’s see what they do next
I actually wish the Flames weren’t so poor at their pr but ultimately care about what they actually do

Me too.

Maloney’s Rebiggle interview will go down as an all-timer next to his presser with Bean.

Just horrid stuff.

I really do look forward to Conroy’s inevitable press conference post-trades.

Personally, I couldn't care less about the pressers, I care about the trades

Would like the word "Rebuild" uttered once by Flames brass.

But does not sound like that will ever happen.

If we trade Rasmus but Craig doesn’t put out a ‘we are rebuilding’ video, does it mean we’re not rebuilding?

So will Edwards be monitoring what effect saying the word rebuild has on their ticket sales?

Thank goodness for this announcement. Some of us were coming dangerously close to missing our daily quota for rehashing this conversation, and this video provides the perfect excuse to keep the streak going!

Doing the lord’s work as always.

Yup, time to settle back in to the circular arguments about what is and isn't a rebuild, and are we or are we not in one - can't wait for all the fresh takes!

If there's one franchise to emulate, it's certainly the Vancouver Canucks.

Canucks just funished a rebuild lol

They were ####ing buyers from the Flames less than 2 years ago. Imagine thinking this is some great plan. Also, they lost the Hughes trade

Canucks made the playoffs twice in the post Sedin build making it to game 7 of the second round in both of those runs. They won the division once.

Post Iginla Flames made the playoffs 5 times winning rounds twice losing in 5 games in both series. They won the division twice.

The Flames really kicked their rebuild off when the Canucks build was peaking so Calgary certainly has the head start. The Hughes trade was a huge boost of futures for the Canucks but the Flams have the better of the remaining chips.

Very interesting with both teams in a rebuild right now how they will each come out of it and who will have more success? Interesting to be going through a rebuild at the exact same time as a prime rival

The Canucks previous rebuild got them a whopping two playoff appearances.

There are a handful of teams that I would say have a worse roster, management, and ownership than the Flames, and the Canucks are at the top of that list.

You could probably build a decent roster just by thinking what would the Canucks do and then doing the opposite.

Doubt it, nobody but the most basic of fans cares about what words a team uses to describe what they are doing.

I had no idea so many posters here just wanted to hear the Flames say 'rebuild'. Is it not officially a rebuild until someone in the front office says so? I did not know that.

“Look at what the flames are doing not what they say”

Oh, you mean nothing. Even if the flames did do something it won’t have anywhere near the return that Hughes got for Vancouver.

When was this Canucks' previous rebuild that people are talking about? They never get a high pick intentionally. They just end up sucking for a while, and never enough to get into the top 3.

I believe the Canucks are one of the few other teams that haven't won a lottery.
