Man, if we get Danielsen and O'Reilly for andersson and coleman it will.be better than christmas. We need RHS RW almost as much as center prospects.
Dreaming of a future:
McKenna-Reschny-Gridin
Wyttenbach-potter-coronato
Kerins-Danielson-O'Reilly
Stromgren-Backlund-Farabee
Bahl-Parekh
Kuznetsov-Brzutewicz
Pachal-Weegar
Wolf

Kadri at $3.5-4 MM would entice more than a few buyers. Can’t see the Flames retaining $3MM+ on Kadri for another 3 yrs.

Then by the end of the year we could be adding
Danielson
O'Reilly
McKenna/Stenberg/Lawrence/Bjorck
to a pool of young pieces like Wolf, Reschny, Parekh, Gridin, Coronato, Potter etc. Plus the multiple firsts and whatever prospect we could get back for Kadri as well.
One hell of a start.

I would love to find a way to pry Geekie out of TB instead of O’Reilly.

It’s probably the wives that need convincing on where to play/live. Detroit I’m sure is a hard sell for Anderssons wife.

The quality vs quantity conversation likely. With Detroit having the better pieces and the other teams offering more pieces.

I could. They need to reach the cap floor and they won't be taking on any big UFA contracts anytime soon. The only notable UFAs after Andersson are Lomberg ($2M), Jake Bean ($1.75M), and Miromanov, who is buried this year anyway.
Next year, Markstrom's retention comes off the books. If we trade all three veterans we will be going into next season with only $70 M in payroll. The cap floor is $76.9 M. We would still need to sign a veteran or trade for an LTIR contract even if we retained 3.5M on Kadri's contract. It makes all sorts of sense for them to retain on him, especially if it sweetens the deal. We aren't handing out any big contracts anytime soon.
I guess I should pause and say thank god for Jonathan Huberdeau's bloated $10 M contract. We'd never reach the cap floor if not for him.

I agree, in my opinion the Flames need to start focusing on bringing in higher quality prospects. We are already full of B level prospects.

Not sure how it compares but a while ago some guys on here mentioned maybe a name like Hemming out of Dallas as part of a Raz trade. How does he compare to Danielson? Liked his game at the WJ.

Hemming to Danielson isn’t a fair comparison. Danielson plays the center position and is a far better prospect than Hemming.

That’d be smashing.

That seems fairly underwhelming for Kadri especially after eating 50% of the salary. I am with you on the other deals

I don't know, if you can get a 2026 1st round pick, being mindful that this is deep draft year, for a retained Kadri, you take that and run.
The 3.5 that CC would eat, can go to getting to the cap floor.

I disagree. I think Kadri should get the biggest return of the 3 and if you eat half the salary he should be getting way more than Andersson or Coleman. I think without salary retained that is a fair trade but eating $3.5M per for 3 years it should be 2x 1st plus Cristal. Kadri at $3.5M is an insane steal

Det - Danielson + 27 1st
Using the presumed ask for DET. What are looking at for each team here? Rough guesses
LA - Greentree + 1st + ?
Tor - all their random picks and garbage
Dal - Hemming + 27 1st
Car - Nadeau + 1st?
Ott - Hensler + 1st?
Vgk - Ihs-Woz + 27 1st

Does it make sense for the Flames to be foregoing receiving high draft capital in return for more established prospects. There was a previous post about the amount of draft capital the Flames have attained for the upcoming draft, so wondering if instead of acquiring more draft picks we can get a better prospect in return (where it makes sense of course).
For example, is there a situation with Detroit that could bring both Danielson and ASP in return.
To DET
Andersson (signed)
To CGY
Danielson
ASP
Perhaps we maybe even exchange mid round picks in proposal above to even it out. Having multiple 1st round picks in drafts is great, but I do think there has to be a mix of just getting picks vs real good prospects.

Are all the possible trade scenarios for an extended Ras?
Any for just a pure rental?

I think the chances of getting both danielson and asp in a trade for a signed Anderson are close to zero.

If the Flames are willing to retain that much on Kadri, moving him to the Canadiens makes too much sense.
The Habs get a veteran presence for a very young team and the Flames have space to take a cap dump in return since the Habs are up against the cap (Anderson or Laine)

I agree with you, but would the Flames be willing to add. Is this where they use their 2nd rounder or even Vegas 1st?
