Luke is the 3rd best Hughes and likely always will be. Needs to be scoring to be worth anywhere near 9 million a year right now. Still is pretty young though.

NJ has been assuming Quinn has been destined for them since the rumours started. They may have been handcuffed by NTC, but they really did botch this and Fitzgerald has, imo, proven to be not particularly adept at trading. They drafted Hughes right before Dougie signed that big deal, and they signed Palat after that.

Hamilton had a lot of offensive talent but he never really has moved the needle a defenceman. His post season points dry up. So now that his offence has gone, he's such a drag on their roster.

Definitely not a fit here given his age and where the team is at, but he the Flames were rumoured to be the runner-up team when he came to North America and signed with Chicago. Apparently the deciding factor was that he was concerned with being a light weight LW on a team that already had Gaudreau.

I don't think Kasper is going to be a strong offensive center in the league, but I see him as a guy that can take over for Backlund as a middle 6 two way center. That's an important piece. I think your 3rd line center is as important as a 2nd line winger.

Starts to look not bad....

Kasper's numbers are GOD awful this year but he had 19 Gs and 37 points just a year ago. There's a player there.

Of course i realize no one has said anything about Kasper so i may be totally wrong but he fits both in terms of what the Flames would want (a center) and somene the Wings may be willing to give up.

If we're getting a center like Kaspar, then I hope we are also moving on from Kadri or Frost this deadline or in the offseason. No point getting a guy like that and stuffing him on the 4th line.
