I like Detroit as a fit except Stevie is so damn stubborn. Glad Berggren is gone as I bet he was offering him in any deal.
I think Danielson is a pipe dream. I would have thought Kasper was not possible but given his season, maybe he's on the table.
Kasper would be a nice heir apparent to Backlund.
I'll take Kasper+1st+Elmer Soderblom.
Nygaard would be OK but would rather get the center.
The latter purely for the comedic value from the chaos of putting Soderblom and Klapka on a line together.

Lidstrom was Ras favourite player growing up, which meant The Wings were probably his favourite team. But it's always been questioned if he'd re-sign there.

Burke "even in a distressed sale it is hard to get great value when everyone knows you want to move the player but I think the Flames will do well with this one"
Perhaps the Maloney interview is a smoke screen tossed out to keep Coleman and Kadri out of the distressed sale category and get max value.

Everyone can agree to disagree but I hope you understand why people get annoyed with this stuff. Making stuff up is fine, but don’t waste people’s time by trying to pass it off as fact.
Your opinion is your opinion, and your interpretations are your own. They are not how things actually are, and they are not things “we” have heard.

Yes, it would be crazy to let everyone know they are for sale and the Flames want to move them. It would just drive down what the offers are. That seems obvious to me and I am thankful that Conroy seems to understand that.

Quick question: How do I put an entire thread on ignore? Not the posters, just the thread.

I think they are likely on his no trade list to begin with.

Ok, Pepsi. I regret that I brought up the Maloney interview and represented ‘fact’ in my argument. I think a reasonable deduction can be made from his words to the attempts to sign the players referenced. But I too am tired of this debate.

As was pointed out when he said that, when he was in Arizona, he used the exact same line when asked about trading Keith Yandle.
Yandle was a Ranger a little over a month later.

Kyper trade buzz

Calgary Flames
The player being sought out the most from Calgary is Blake Coleman, who has only partial trade protection and makes $4.9 million against the cap this year and next. He’s a versatile player who can be used in any role and he’s a two-time Cup winner leading Calgary in goals. If it improves the package enough, the Flames might even entertain the idea of retaining some of that salary.
Kadri is tougher. Teams are wary of his age and the remaining term on his deal. The offers haven’t been inspiring, and that decision may drag right up until the trade deadline.
I still think Vegas is circling on Rasmus Andersson and could be interested in moving on that before the Olympics.

Kasper is interesting. He was great last year and that was the reason I thought Danielson would be expendable. This year he is not just in a sophomore slump, he is nonexistent. His pace right now, 6G/6A/-34, is significantly worse than Huberdeau in his worst year (12G/40A/-29).
So ya, on the one hand I think you can buy low on him (really low) and hope that he bounces back. On the other hand, it would be really tough to spend one of your big trade chips to get Kasper and then he just keeps being bad.

The problem with the Wings is they’re weak at LD, not RD. Seider and Edvinsson are going to be their top pair for a decade, and their top young d-man, Sandin-Pellika, is an offense-minded RD who’s currently looking a bit out of his depth on the second pairing (he’s only 20), but will likely be a good one in another year or two.
If they trade for Andersson and sign him to a big extension, he and Seider will take up a big chunk of their cap, while blocking their top d prospect. And they’ll still need help at LD.
It would be a short-term-gain for long-term-pain move of the sort that Yzerman hasn’t shown any enthusiasm for.

Would be a decent chance that if Detroit gets serious it would be Sandin-Pellika they offer up.

Find this hard to believe. Kyper has been in the business for, what, 25 years?
He’s much closer to the league and the industry at large than most. Plus what has he said here that isn’t already known? It’s been reported by others that Vegas has had interest, it’s been reported there has been wide ranging interest in Coleman, and it’s also been reported that Kadri may be the least likely to be moved.
If anything this is just confirming what we’ve been hearing and I, personally, don’t have any issue with that.
