I didn't say it was. I just think there are sky high expectations coupled with a possible downward trajectory in the next few years and it's not something that has the hallmarks for long term success.
I guess I am looking at it from a lens of a coach coming in with the vision of a long term situation. A coach could come in and hot shot to a championship and move out of the role after two/three years like Arians in Tampa.

They've shown as an organization that they give coaches years and years of rope. They've only had 3 coaches in their history (no the browns don’t count). The expectations are the same at every NFL job. I dunno, the idea that it's some short term job or the scratch and dent bin version of an opportunity is the opposite of what I would think it is.
I expect them to hire a young coordinator that fits their organizational model and keep them for a decade plus. Minter's probably their first choice if I had to guess

I think their window with Lamar is closing fast with his body breaking down. He's likely going to follow the Cam Newton path where his career ends fast and it's not like he's ever performed well in the playoffs even in his prime years. I think it's a great opportunity for a head coach that has a lot of confidence and a good plan but I think it's more challenging winning with Lamar than it is with a traditional passer and it sounds like ownership wants to fire Monken so all new offense for Lamar. Kingsbury could work out for them as he could probably design an offense around Lamar that will work.

Cam was a very physical runner who often sought contact. Lamar generally does a pretty good job of avoiding contact. I don't think Lamar is gonna age as badly as Cam did. With that said, once Lamar loses a step or two and he is no longer a home run threat every time he breaks contain he is going to have to modify his game because he'll be facing a lot more zone and fewer QB spies. Just look at this year when he was hampered with injuries, teams adjusted when they didn't have to fear his running as much.

Crosby in 2019 isn't relevant but JaMarcus Russell in 2007 (who would have been drafted high by someone if not the Raiders) is

Well I guess I could have said Russell Wilson as well as his career started to decline once he got into his 30's and lost a step. Pocket passers aren't as sexy to the Madden generation but they are typically the guys that can play deep into their 30's. The mobile QB's usually flame out in their early 30's save for Young and Cunningham. The less a QB depends on his legs, the longer they can typically play as they usually lose a step before they start losing arm strength.

Harbaugh’s agent was called by seven teams within 40 minutes.
Giants seems likely, but John is a Toledo boy and grew up a Browns fan.

Also the first time the Raiders have ever picked first overall. This year will be the 2nd. I can say with confidence that regardless of who they pick in April, there is 0.0% chance that the player busts like Russell. Also to be fair Russell's pro day was regarded as one of the best ever for a QB at that time so the tools were there but as good as the tools were, he was equally as lazy. Al ignored the character flags but if the Raiders don't take him at #1 he was still going to get picked in the first round.

I hope he goes to your team, you guys deserve a break. But I read the Giants are the frontrunner like you said, we'll see.

Well looks like Rashee Rice can't seem to escape trouble. This time it's domestic violence allegations by his ex girlfriend who is a mother of two children with him. Given his track record going to be tough to convince anyone that he's innocent here.

McDaniel fired in Miami.... partially because Harbaugh is available?

Chiefs would be insane not to go for McDaniel as OC. He made Tua look decent, give him Mahomes and yeah NFL might be cooked.

I keep hearing Chief fans wanting Bienemy back. I'd rather see someone from outside Reid's circle of pals who can bring in some new ideas. Although if Reid won't change even McDaniels will be limited in getting that offence to be any better. I just hope some other team hires Matt Nagy.

Chiefs OC's are basically organizers running Andy Reid's spread version of the WCO and he still calls the plays. I imagine McDaniel will want to run his own offense which is the McVay tree of ZBS/WCO calling his own offense so I don't see the fit. McDaniel will be a hot candidate for OC but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets his share of HC interviews as well. I'm sure the Generals will be looking at him to replace KK.

All-Pro team out and would normally suggest Stafford will be MVP, but we just saw Lamar not be MVP last year as first team QB, so we'll see.

Steelers interview list for HC so far:
Nate Scheelhaase
Chris Shula
Jesse Minter
Brian Flores
Anthony Weaver
don't really rate Weaver, but pretty happy with that. There's worse ideas than plucking the McVay tree, and I have a ton of respect for Flores and think he deserves another shot.

No Seahawks on the defensive side of the all pro team is something.
And yeah I think Flores is exactly the right guy for the Steelers to be looking at.

Harbaugh to the Giants is essentially done.
Quote:
John Harbaugh and the New York Giants are working to finalize an agreement to make him their next head coach and, barring a setback, a deal is expected, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday night.
The deal is not final and contract numbers still are being negotiated, with one source telling Schefter: "There still is a lot to work through."
But barring any setbacks, Harbaugh is ready to accept the Giants' deal and the team is expected to hire him as soon as possible, sources told Schefter.
