Picking twice in the top 5 and not selecting a center would be bonkers.

The smart play would be Lawrence obviously, really excited to see him play in NCAA to finish out too, but man those two wingers have tantalizingly skill sets; especially Stenberg… just unreal ability.

Thing is premier center prospects rarely get moved, so you're trying to take some risks to find one.
12 months ago Poitras would have been deemed untouchable, so you're buying low.
He was seen as the next Bergeron in 2023-2024 when he put up 15 points in 33 games as a 19 year old and then missed the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.
Then he was up and down in 24-25. had 11 points in 33 games in the NHL, and was a point per game as an AHL rookie with 41 points in 40 games.
And now his stock has fallen due to a poor training camp and now a poor AHL season.
To me he feels like a great "buy low" target.

I'd be happy enough with picking Stenberg with our own pick, then adding his buddy Viggo (even if we have to trade up). They had great chemistry at the WJC.

But this is the problem. ME trusts his "hockey operations" team, the leader of whom in an org chart is ####ing Maloney.
Maloney should be taken to a nice farm in the mountains and allowed to run free with unlimited dog treats.

Even with Doughty heading out to pasture that is 6 guys for 3 spots.
Also, LA is one of the few teams we know Andersson has actually turned down either because he doesn't like the trajectory of the organization, they lowballed him on the extension, or he doesn't want to be in that city.

Doesn't seem to be the case if he's agreed to set asking prices for key veterans well before Xmas.

SEC214 , if a trade ever does happen and it plays out exactly as expected, do you ever go back and reveal what the Gifs actually meant? that would be fun in hindsight. We could then analyse your gifs like a predictive learning model and actually learn your thought process and play along next trade.

Well I love how it just took Sec to post a gif to get this thread back on track with actual discussion about trade proposals and discussion.
Much appreciated

With the change in how the team is run under Conroy vs Treliving (Maloney was here then too), I'm not so sure he's the leader as much as a senior sounding board.

This aligns with my understanding of Murray Edwards as well. Good to get another agreed upon fact on the message board, Murray does not interfere with the hockey operations.

I think the shift on Kadri and Coleman will come from their side. If the team goes back to the dumper then moving looks a lot more attractive

I know POHO is always technically above GM but in a lot of orgs that person doesn't seem to wield much power. Often they are just guys who the team doesn't want to be GM but don't kick to the curb. Or just advisors.
Edit: Pretty sure Burke as POHO didn't control Feaster and actually disagreed with many of those moves.
