The countdown is on for sure.
“Marathon turns into a sprint and the player is going to the Olympics”
“Both sides want this to happen VERY soon. Agent has been hustling.”

Rangers have two 1sts but no real need for a RD, so don't think they are in on Andersson...but I feel like they'd be a team very interested in Blake Coleman.

Reading between the lines on the agent tells me a sign and trade likely

It would make sense to do it on the road trip to get the players acclimatized with the team before coming home. I wonder though, do you tell Rasmus to pack extra for the trip incase he gets dealt to a new team?
Im going to miss Rasmus. He was a fantastic flame and its unfortunate his time here is ending.

The agent would potentially be involved in the waiving of a no trade clause or in the signing of an extension. Either of those could potentially improve the return.

Connie doesn’t tango.
If he wanted to be here. He had an opportunity to do so but players agent’s Job is to maximize the earnings of the player. Thats one of the many reasons players have one.

Islanders would be an interesting suitor. They have a pretty good D group but their RD is so-so.
Romanov (IR)-Pulock
Pelech-Mayfield
Schaefer-DeAngelo
Boqvist-McWard
Adding Andersson would shift that whole RD depth chart down one peg, which would look good for gearing up for the playoffs. It is odd, looking at their prospect pool, everyone is a LD (not counting Ethan Bear). So I guess the need for RD is real.
I am not sure about the return though. They don't really have a C for us to get excited about (unless Ritchie is getting traded again), so we're back to looking at LD or wingers? meh.

In terms of timing I do get why Rasmus would rather have this done sooner rather than later.
You wouldn't want to get traded on Feb 6 right before you and you family are flying to Milan for the Olympics on Feb 11, and you certainly don't want to get traded in the middle of the olympics.
I would bet Rasmus and his agent would be pushing hard to have this done by January 15th or so if I were to pick a date.

Yeah the math just doesn't work to give up the value at the end of the term.
8 years x 8.5M for $68M
vs
5 years x 8.5M and
3 years x 3.5M for $53M total
Can't leave $15M on the table.
Flames back to back losses having them back to a 100 point pace needed may be a good igniter too.
