I tend to agree with Warrener most of the time. (Same era. Type of D I loved having.)

It was a really bad take. And that is coming from a big Rhett fan.
Doesn't think he can defend, thinks he is soft, and that he doesn't try. He was dead serious about trading him too, just an awful take.

Well the kid is soft and isn't a good defender if we're being fair. The kid is also 19 and will get better. The big takeaway was that it was unfortunate Zayne couldn't have been assigned to the Wranglers from the start which is where he should have been if possible.

Also admitted he didn't like the pick at the draft. So seems like he's got some strong established opinions about him.
I thought Pinder offered a more balanced take where as Warrener came off as hot headed and a bit "old man yelling at clouds".

A top end center prospect with franchise potential. Not very many of those out there, and if there is, it's definitely NOT up for trade either. I am keeping Parekh in 99% of proposals.

I agree with him on almost everything, but this was a bit crazy haha. I am not ready to run a kid out of town because he has a few flaws.
Even I'm not that over reactive!

Certainly no one from his draft outside of Celebrini of course. I wouldn't trade him for Misa, Frondel or Martin from 2025.
2023 draftees are pretty established on their teams but maybe Fantilli or Carlsson LOL.

Yep, I am thinking along those lines too.
Carlsson is doubtful, Fantilli is possible if we added. Thought about Catton from Seattle, but he probably becomes a winger with Beniers and Wright already down the middle. I don't mind Misa, but I would much rather have Parekh over Misa. Also don't want to help San Jose out with a future pairing of Dickinson/Parekh.

I'd think about trading Parekh one-for-one for Tij Iginla, but only because we really need some future centre depth.

Put Backs on D and stick him with Parekh. Backs makes everyone better.

I think we're going to be having these arguments about Parekh for as long as he's in the league. Even if he leaves the Flames. You can see it already on social media, he's so contentious.
I will say the critics have a couple points, his straight line foot speed kinda sucks, it keeps resulting in these ugly highlights. And he is physically fragile right now. Both things can be worked on.

They drafted Tij as their face of the franchise. They are not trading him.

Rhett just likes Zeev Buium, and thinks that the Flames have missed out on the guy, because he looked more NHL ready, and MIN flipped him for Hughes.
I thought that Buium fell in part because of what happened with McGroarty in WPG. Teams were a lot more weary about drafting a player with a top 10 pick that might request a trade 2 years removed from the draft.
It's way too early to judge the defensive game of a 19-year-old. If he has the same defensive warts after 300 NHL games, then sure. The Flames' biggest need was offense, and Parekh was a great get to address that. People are just upset he can't seamlessly fit into Andersson's shoes 15 games into his NHL career.

Cooley says hi. If Parekh was offered for Iggy 1 for 1, I think Utah accepts. Parekh or Wolf are the only two pieces (in my opinion) that Utah wouldn't hang up the phone. Utah would be happy with Cooley and Desnoyers down the middle and Serg/Parekh as a future top pairing.

Utah already had their choice between those two players on draft day, and they took Iginla. I doubt they've changed their minds.

But Utah already had that choice and picked Iginla.
Why would they now turn around and flip him for a guy they could have taken but chose not to?
I realize things change over time, but what has changed that would cause Utah to do that?

I really like Parekh and I see no need to move him, but that said I'd trade him for Misa in a heartbeat. I'm a little bit concerned about how poorly he protects himself and the potential for injuries and I also don't think he is going to defend very well. I still love his potential as an offensive catalyst but I thought Misa was more impactful than he was in their brief NHL stints earlier this year and he's a full year younger. Those kind of smaller but dynamic puck moving dmen seem to consistently available in the 5-15 range in the draft but the potential #1 centers who score a goal a game in junior rarely seem to last beyond the top 5, Hagens is the only other recent one that comes to mind who looked like they had that potential in their draft year

As a thought exercise I would be open to this as well.
And then I would draft Verhoeff this year.
And that's not to say I'm down on Parekh at all. Hardly.
But #1 centers are the toughest thing to get.
