Woof…just finished reading the last 5 pages (at 60 posts per page, too!). What a colossal waste of time, energy and angst. It’s worse than babysitting my grandkids.
The statements of opinions as facts, the imbuing of certain public media as “speaking for management” (or even having enough insight to know what management is thinking, did or said at ANY TIME) is risible.
Unless one has VERY close ties to management or ownership (and some may do so) it’s all garbage speculation, with no foundation in reality. Some things have been reported as factual…but WE really don’t know if it is, or not…or if it’s a story line spun to media.
Blech.I’ll go back to enjoying the lovely afternoon, the wood fire and a glass of good scotch. And probably stop reading CP’s trade threads for a bit.

I really believe that the priority for an Andersson trade needs to be a young C. We are unlikely to see a young C back in a Kadri trade, just look at what happens when someone suggests Kadri for Hage...
Coleman is also unlikely to bring back a strong C prospect just from the nature of wingers having less value than centers.
With this draft looking somewhat weak on centers (7-9 of them in the first round? Only 1 in the top 10?), it really adds to the pressure that Andersson brings back a C.
|
I think things are shifting and you could see up to 4 centres in the top 10

How would "sell mode" be disturbing?
Isn't that basically being in rebuilding mode. Which is what we should be doing.

It's the fire sale aspect - Aarongavey wants a good return.

But "willing to listen mode" sounds like you aren't looking to make a trade. But you'll listen on any calls that come in.
Maybe I am misunderstanding the quote. But shouldn't every team be in willing to listen mode at all times?

100% agree, but let’s see what happens at the TDL if we’re still in playoff contention. The team will stay the same, minus Andersson.

LOL. That is not how the UFA market works.
Andersson is sitting #10 for RD in the league for points right now. #19 if you count LD too. That makes him a top pair D on any team in the league.
No GM is going to look at that and think "ya, I can offer him less than max term". Max term is an assumption and he is going to get a full NMC for at least half of the term.
The only question marks are:
1) Will a team trade for his rights so they can offer him an 8 year deal instead of a 7 year deal?
2) What is the AAV going to be?
Dobson and Bouchard are tough to compare because their contracts include RFA years. Andersson's contract will be pure UFA years looking at the rising salary cap.

Well no, sometimes GMs put out the message that a player is untouchable. Willing to listen means "make me an offer". As opposed to "please, I need to sell this player".

Although he didn’t finish his chances in overtime/shootout… Bjorck has looked really good for Sweden. Would be surprised if all the updated rankings don’t have him in the top ten after this tournament.

Suvanto and maybe a team takes a chance at Bjorck?
Unrelated but Chase Reid impresses me

Like Reid a lot, also like Carels however if were picking in the top ten outside of the top four i think Malhotra has to be considered, Bjork i have been a fan of all year he could legitimately go anywhere outside the top three or four probably.
A guy like Novotny could make an appearance in the top ten.
Prefer a forward but walking away from the first round with Reid and say Hextall, or Edwards or Rogowski it wouldn't be the worst but gosh i want that center depth .
Added: this assumes were picking outside the top four.

I've a hard time seeing Coleman to the Lightning with the amount of cap they've got tied to everyone.

The cap is going up 8.5 million next season. Towards the deadline you won't need much cap space to fit him in.

Maybe the Flames can get the Tanner Jeanot special.

I already forgot the Oilers made that dumb move. Yes please to him. Coleman (50%) for O'Reilly and a Cond. 2nd/1st (2028) - if the Lightning win the cup in 2026 or 2027. Yes, I'm greedy. But, I am also assuming a lot of teams would be in on Coleman if truly available, and the Lightning's pick would be high anyway.

Yeah. And the flames could easily retain on Coleman.
I interpret that tweet from Lebrun to mean the offers for Coleman are going to be very good.
Not sure what the return for Coleman would need to be for Cornoy to pull the trigger but I’m assuming from Royle’s comments that it’s really high.
Say Geekie + 1st round pick or O’Reilly + 1st round pick. An overpay for sure but I think it’s you going to take an overpay for Conroy to bother trading Coleman this year. It’s just a question of how much of an overpay.
