Hmmm. Death Knights y'say? I might be interested afterall. And here I thought my taste for WoW had finally been lost after spending 11 hours in Gruul's Lair! Still pissed about having to kill Arthas, though. I wonder how many days after launch until Nilihium downs him.

As far as PvP games go, I've heard really good things about Fury. There's no outside game content, other then stepping into an arena with skills you've chosen from before, and blowing each other up. No long 8 second casts times, either. Seemed more like a fantasy FPS then anything.

I'm pretty sure Warhammer Online is going to steal a few million fans over from WoW, too. I've heard nothing but great things, and they've promised to apparently redo the whole raid thing so that no player is stuck just healing, tanking, DPSing (that's Damage Per Second,) crowd controlling, and so forth. PvP is also suppose to rock in that game, too.

I don't know. Guess we'll see. Blizzard hasn't announced anything yet, so this could all just be a hoax, too.

Ding ding ding we have a winner.

Nothing will ever, ever come close to the PvP experience of old UO. It was the ultimate skill version of PvP/teamwork. Is that from Sonoma btw? Too bad EA completely wrecked it. Now it is basically a perverted item/grindfest.

^^ Yes and no, the players are from Sonoma but the fight took place on Chesapeake. Shortly after UO:R Maximus reformed M on Chessy and invited a bunch of vets to come play with him. So we invaded the shard along with many other guilds from many other servers. Big 2 to 5 way fights every night, it was a great time while it lasted. Not to sound y or anything, but we rocked their sox off. It wasn't really fair, basically it was a guild of ringers, some of Sonoma's best of all time, but they didn't need to know that

Warhammer looks great. I played DAoC on and off since release and Mythic did a great job with it. Granted ToA was a mistake, but the 8v8 PvP is like nothing else I have ever experienced, truly unique. Group set up is so interesting and fun to tinker with. I will probably try out AOC while I wait for Warhammer, the clan war system seems kind of neat.

Has anyone tried the new LOTR online game? If yes, how is it?

Some of the quests in BC are just ridiculous.

"Go pick through animal waste to find half digested berries"
Done.
"I turned the half digested berries into this underwater breathing potion. Injest it when you need it."
Umm...

I really wish they'd focus more on end game content instead of just making it a much longer level grind to the top. Spending so much time monster bashing just so I can pvp (non-twink) at the highest level just isn't appealing to me at all.

Hmm I'm still deciding if I should get WoW. So if I decided to play the game, would the expansion packs be worth buying?

Also I thought Northrend was part of the main continents in Warcraft, I'm surprised the original WoW didn't include it.

I actually just bought the game in late April and it's totally worth it. The expansions are also worth it. This game is fantastic for just killing time in a very entertaining fashion.

While Northrend is a main continent of the Azeroth world, I think since Arthas is there and it is home of the scourge it is going to be one of the strongest places.

I LOVE UO... I still play it from time to time but its getting kind of old. Now that I think about it I could really refresh my tower.

It soley depends on your playstyle. If you enjoy competition and want the added challenge of battling members of the opposite faction (Horde or Alliance,) then PvP (Player versus Player) servers are good for that. They can get incredibly frustrating to play on though, especially older ones that have high level characters with extremely good gear running around - because it's highly unlikely you'll put up a good fight against them.

If you're more on the easy going side of the play spectrum and just want to be able to level your character in peace without the added frustration of a PC (player character) ganking you while you're questing, then I suggest sticking to a Normal server.

If you're in to Roleplaying your character (typing with accents, developing a storyline for your character, etc.) then obviously RP versions of either PvP or Normal servers are a good idea.

I've played on all 4 server types, and I can say they're generally all the same.

Otherwise, I'd check this website: http://www.warcraftrealms.com/realmstats.php and determine which server bests suites your needs, such as things like the ratio of Horde characters to Alliance ones, the time zone the server is located (as server time is often used to set Raiding Schedules later on in the game,) the total population and the age of the server, as older servers have a lot more characters on them that are a) more experienced, b) better equipped and c) wealthier, so the economies on those servers are likely going to be extremely inflated.

Most newer players are going to want a low to medium populated server that is reasonably new when they begin, because then you don't have to wait in a queue to sign on your character, and you'll be surrounded by more players who are closer to your level and experience so that you can get some of the low-end game content finished while you learn the game.

I haven't personally played it, but I've heard as a general consensus from many people that it can be summarized in these few simple words: It sucks. Both in content and mechanically, sucks.
