I’m confused I’m constantly reading the Flames have done Nothing to try and get better, and the cap room and lack of trades prove it .
But all teams are always trying to get better too ?
Which is it ?
Always good to read a “don’t you have better things to do then post (sorry cry) on a message board “ reply though ! Don’t you ?

Thanks for reply - Thoughts
Marner - They engaged - Had no interest
Boesar - Was never leaving Van. That's why they didnt deal him at the deadline.
Burns - Ill agree with this - But was talking forwards - theres actually a few D that could improve the team but we have a better D pipeline right now IMO (That are closer to NHL ready)
Also I don't think 40 year old Burns who has made $110 million in his career and signed in Colorado wants to come to Calgary vs chase a cup.
Roslovic - To be our 4th line center? If they traded Kadri or never got Frost this is exactly the type of player they should go after in UFA. But we didn't . Where would he play? He didn't sign until 1 month in because he wants playing time, not 4th line time
Beauvillier - 25 point left wing Beauvillier was going to show the Flames were serious about improving? Which Left winger was he replacing?
Coleman? Huberdeau? Farabee?
See the problem just like Roslovic is we have too many as good or similar guys.
Now if we traded Coleman and Kadri and signed Roslovic and Beauvillier? BOOM now that actually makes some sense for a rebuilding team to maximize assets and get younger while still having experienced players. If we didnt waste a 2nd and Kuz who was traded for a third for Farabee and Frost? Another example where we would have spots for these type of Free Agents.
Sounds like a good reason we should have traded Kadri and Coleman, or not traded for Frost and Farabee ?

This is honestly the most stale I've ever seen CP I think. Just the same arguments rehashed over and over and over in every thread about whether e are rebuilding or not. I mostly speed scroll now, it's crazy.

I'm down to scrolling for white boxes in a sureloss post or a missteeks post. And maybe a . Gif here and there. I'm happy to talk about posted rumors as they pop up . I don't blame CP, I blame the Flames for not providing us super nerd fans anything to really talk about.

Exactly, nobody wants to talk about that.... at depth.
I meant more trades and ideas about what their plan is. I mean outside of Maloney's bologna, it's been room temp water out of the flames.

^^^ the point is not whether those UFAs would be good pickups. It's that the Flaes didn't even try to get them (I think they didn't try hard on Marner but if they did he fits a rebuild anyway).
They also made no trades to make the team immediately better. Surely if they just missed last season they'd figure just a couple pieces would put them into the POs. But they didn't despite having a lot to trade.

In a normal year playing at a 103 point pace over 27 games after a brutal start would be providing something to talk about. Sadly this year winning these games seems to generate more anger and upset than joy for some fans.

Wait until Anderrson gets hurt at the Olympics before a trade and misses the rest of the season. Heads will roll and chaos will ensue.

Conroy says "We will look at anything if we think it will make us better."
I would be shocked if every GM didn't operate with that mantra.
You're on here fighting with several people about
*Checks notes*
The fact that Calgary didn't sign any high priced UFAs but they probably wanted too.
Pretty sad stuff. Hilarious for me to read but definitely sad for you.

Your applauding incremental progress. Yes, past versions of the Calgary Flames would have spent assets and cap space to try and get incrementally better. They would also have been less picky on the age of the assets. Good on Conroy for prioritizing getting younger and being more responsible with his assets. But doing nothing is not a direction.
The Flames are well on their way to finishing just shy of the playoffs once again on the backs of a bunch of veterans. Waiting for some "knock your socks off" offers before we move veterans with term. That is either a distinct lack of direction, or utter incompetence

Until Murray Edwards embraces a true rebuild, takes a potential financial loss at the gates, I am not sure you will ever see the sacrifice required to give yourself a realistic shot at a championship. His concerns are different than the common fan. I would suggest most fans would endure a little pain if it meant a shot at glory, that's just common sense, or why else to clubs raise banners in their arenas, it's a symbol of the hard work and sacrifice that the players, coaches, management and owners endured through to reach a common goal.
Its of my opinion that why you are seeing such frustration from callers on fan960, flamesnation, and other media outlets, there seems to be such a disconnect between what alot of fans want, and what ownership is willing to do. There definitely is a theme from ownership since I have been a fan in the early 80's of protecting some code of honor, and being too noble to ever tank for a higher draft pick. I think it's short sighted, IMO that type of philosophy handicaps a team from truly being elite. I would suggest the results speak for themselves, very little playoff success, probably one of the more miserable ones in the entire league.
If past history is an indicator of future events, than I think you will see very little change in how this team operates. I am not denying that CC has made some trades for futures picks and prospects, but alot of teams do that, you do have to make room for some of your younger players, there are always contract disagreements, etc. The Backlund signing was one that raised eyebrows for me, it just screamed a manager trying to hold onto a competitive window, a competitive window that I don't see, this team probably will miss the playoffs for the fourth straight year
So that's why you are seeing such built up frustration, for the younger competitive fan, it's very difficult to get behind this mushy middle again, and frankly I don't blame them
