I hope for his sake Tkachuk doesn't go out on the ice knowing he won't make it through a game. Robs someone else of a spot and hurts the team. I guess we'll see if he plays today in the classic or before the plane leaves for Milan.

A best-on-best Olympics will be a different game than the NHL. As we saw in the 4 Nations, the speed of play is blazing fast, and any defensive lapses or weaknesses will be exposed. Every players needs to be able to skate and be relied on defensively.

That explains some of the roster decisions that people are unhappy about. A guy like Stone can get away with his heavy skating because of his elite defensive awareness, positioning, and ability to win pucks in tight. The same can’t be said for Fox, Scheifele, or Robertson.

Hanifin is a little bit of a surprise for me.

Id like to see Bennett in the line up even more so now.

Brady and Matthew, JT Miller and Trocheck all play with some snarl.

Canada looks relatively soft with exception of Wilson (looked soft at 4 nations minus Bennett)

True, but most of those guys are slower. The Canada roster will likely skate circles around the Americans.

Debrincat got robbed also. Has been one of the top US goal scorers for a number of seasons. IMO either him or Caufield should have been included over Trochek.

USA Hockey unveiled its roster Friday on the "Today" show, with a vast majority of it made up of players who took part in the NHL-run international tournament in February, when the Americans made the final before losing to Canada in overtime. The only ones not back from the 4 Nations are Anaheim Ducks forward Chris Kreider and former New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox.
