Hopefully a Coleman can trade can open up a spot, but unless there are injuries, he will need to keep biding his time.

Stromgren with another 2 points today going into the third, hes been looking really good the last few weeks. I seem to remember him saying in an article how frustrated he was to not be called up last season. Making a strong push this season, I really hope he gets a look.

Wranglers win 3-2 in OT over the Eagles.

Hunt (2g 1a), Stromgren (1g 1a), Frk (1g), Kerins (2a). Say in net.

With 8 pts in the last 3 games (4g 4a) Stromgren has to be a favourite for AHL Player of the Week (and it's only Thursday).

Stromgren is certainly making a strong case for pushing the parent club into making roster moves to accommodate him.

Interesting that they didn't assign him to the ECHL as they have been doing with Morin.

Have to think that the quality of play is higher in the ECHL than what it is in the dub.

Morin is a (draft) year older and thus the circumstances are pretty different

I would guess the quality of play is different (probably better as always the case with older players ) but maybe moreso different in the ECHL- though isn't there labour strife in the E?

I think this makes more sense for Basha than sending a kid who just turned 20 to the ECHL. esp given as he lost most of a year to injury last year - also different than Morin

but you do raise a good point

It probably doesn't hurt that the Tigers are a fricken powerhouse set to go deep in the playoffs again. Hopefully Bash can get his mojo back and light up the dub.

Jan.2nd:

Wranglers are beaten 5-2 by Tucson.

Kerins (Hunt, Stromgren)
Ciona (Morin, Bell)

Say stops 38 of 43 in the loss. 6-7-4-1, with a 3.33 GAA, and a .891 SV%.

Defenseman Dmitri Simashev has 10 points in 11 AHL games for Tucson.

Admittedly, I have never watched an ECHL game, but my perception is that the quality of play in the CHL is higher than the ECHL. The CHL is full of players who will one day become NHL regulars and ever more who will become AHL regulars, very few ECHL players will ever play an NHL game and almost none will be regulars.

Also, Morin is an over age player for the CHL, so they would have to find a team that has room for another over age player (the maximum allowed is 3 and Moncton currently has 3). Even though Basha is currently 20, he was still 19 when the season started, so he isn't over age this season and the Tigers don't need to make any special moves to fit him on the roster.

Basha IS considered an over-ager. It's based on year of birth.

So, how is Medicine Hat able to keep 4 over age players? They already had Josh Van Mulligen, Ethan Neutens, and Misha Volotovskii.

How many 20 year olds can a team use?

WHL teams are allowed a maximum of three overage players. Teams having more than three overage players to start the season may continue to rotate them in and out of the lineup until October 16th at which time they must select determine the three that they will keep. Other 20-year-olds become free agents for the other teams in the League. From October 16th until February 10th, teams may bring in an overage player, but, if they have three already, then they have to release one. February 10 of each year is the roster deadline and all players who are with a team on that date are there for the duration of the season.

They won't. One will have to be cut.
