Kinda interested in Sweden's roster. Andersson should make the team. But Backlund is ahead in points over a few guys most predict for the team, like Landeskog, Petterson, Burakovsky, Lindholm, Rakell, etc. He deserves a shot.

Who would make a bet that if goalie A starts the TEAM won't win. That's a dumb bet. Binnington could play lights out and they lose. Or more likely - they could open against a low seed and win 8-4 with Binnington getting a .800 save%.

Love that media is blowing up with the Bouchard 'snub' so he promptly goes out and takes a -2 to show them all what's what

I do hope Backlund gets a roster spot. He definitely deserves one more than others at this point. He’s also playing some of his best hockey in years. Which says a lot because even his average level of play is really solid.

I don't mind what you've done, but I would change the RWs, personally.

Drop Wilson to the 4th line with Marchand and Horvat, and move Stone up to McDavid's line, or to MacKinnon's, moving Reinhart to McDavid.

Stone is too slow to play in the top 2 lines. Was evident in the 4 nations.

When your linemates are McDavid and Celebrini, you don't need speed, you just need the smarts to get open, and have a great shot. He has both.

It is why he is still so dangerous and successful with Eichel.

Horvat left the game today with an injury. No idea how serious but would think Sam would be next guy up

Re the US team: I absolutely believe Coleman deserves to be on it - one of the most under-rated players in the game.

Backlund absolutely deserves it as well (and will probably be there). Backlund and Coleman continue to carry the Flames much further than anyone thinks they should go. And yes, I was wrong about Backlund - he is playing even better this year than he did last year. Good on him!

Bennett or Johnston - I really like Wyatt as a player, probably more than Bennett. I'd still think about Geekie. Not that he's a consistent guy but he's sure riding a hot hand.

I'm not convinced they truly wanted Sam to be on this team for whatever reason, the minute Wilson was chosen. I can see the POV that both Wilson and Bennett could be overkill on the agitation side of things, but I truly don't believe having Bennett would hurt the team. In any case, I do hope Schiefele is chosen. He's been snubbed for awhile now. Horvat was a bit of mistake to be chosen for this anyway.

Bring them back! The throwback jerseys too!

With international refs calling the games, I would be afraid that with both Bennett and Wilson on the team, they would be killing penalties way too often.

Scheifele asked about his snub. Has 1.2 PPG on a pretty bad Jets team, the most points of anyone who missed the team. At 32, I doubt he gets another chance at Olympic gold.

Quote:
"Yeah, it sucked. Pretty dark day," Scheifele told reporters after the visiting Jets lost 6-5 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night.

"It's hard to think about now after kind of turning the page to this morning. Obviously, it was a tough day. News you don't want. But it just shows the amount of talent in Canada, so many great hockey players, so many great guys."

"I don't know what else I could have done (to make Team Canada)," Scheifele said. "I'm proud of the way I've played all season until now. I think I've probably played the best hockey I've ever played in my career."

Yeah, really difficult to tell if these guys care or not.

As a Konecny fan, I would have like to see him make it as well. I am not sure who I would take off instead, but I was hoping for him. Not that sentimentality should play a role obviously, but it would have been cool for him to get to play in the Olympics with Horvat.
