I had to look mine up from 2024, 64 for $285. They're $1250 now.

DDR4 and DDR5 RAM has gone up 2-5x since earlier this year. I was baffled when I was looking at the prices in October vs prices during the summer.

that's very sad and true. I basically maxed out the AM4 platform by dumpint a 4070 super in it and getting an x3d chip. It's decent for 1440p but lol my card went up in price since over a year ago.

Won't be touching any of this new #### anytime soon, unless I'm going mining for virtual gold

It's not surprising but RAM pricing is affecting consumer devices like gaming handhelds too.

I just ordered a Retroid Pocket 6 in hopes of getting it before a trip to Vietnam I'm taking in March. Those hopes are now dwindling

Hopefully it works out for you. You might want to consider the AYN Thor. I recommend it if you can swing the extra cost, and the flip design is probably better for travel.

Not a big fan of clamshells, controls just don't feel as good as other handheld devices

Nvidia reportedly plans 30-40% cut in GeForce GPU production in early 2026
Recent reports have claimed that Nvidia intends to reduce its production capacity for GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs in the first half of 2026. These cuts are reportedly due to shortages of memory, not just GDDR7, but all memory types.

Yup it's over.

My monitor is doing weird things more and more lately.. sometimes when turning on another device that's hooked up to it (my work laptop or my TV) the screen will either freeze or go black and I have to unplug and replug in the monitor to get stuff back.. the PC is fine through this so it's definitely the monitor. Been increasing so it happens once every other day or so now so have been looking around for a replacement so I know what I would look at.

Since I have the 42" LG OLED now I can game on there so I guess I don't have to get a gaming monitor, I could just get a good productivity monitor that would be cheapest. I confirmed that I can't stand how text looks on the OLED, please fix the subpixel layout issue Microsoft.

Can't stop myself from looking at what a replacement gaming monitor would be though and still looks like 32" 4K HDR non-OLED monitors haven't really progressed like the rest of the market, and are pretty overpriced, the one I have (ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX) which I got for an incredible deal is like $1300+. BenQ MOBIUZ EX321UX is the other one I like but is even more!

I don't like curved monitors but if I had to buy something today and wanted to still be able to game on it I'd probably get the G7 and hope I can adjust.

But looks like Samsung is launching some new monitors and IPS is getting some love.

https://news.samsung.com/global/sams...ution-displays

None of them curved! Not really interested in the 3D stuff but the 32" one with 165Hz at 6K resolution (for productivity) and then 330Hz at 3K resolution is interesting. Not that I'd ever use 330Hz but that it's capable of that should mean it's great for ghosting.

Will look forward to the reviews and hopefully my current monitor doesn't die.

Also looks like LG Display is making a panel with a normal subpixel layout so it should be able to display text well.

"Ahead of CES 2026, LG Display has just announced a seemingly revolutionary development in the OLED world, at least as far as its own panels are concerned. The company has achieved a striped, true RGB subpixel layout in one of its upcoming monitors — in particular, a 27-inch 4K display with a 240 Hz native refresh rate, doubled by dual-mode capabilities."

https://www.tomshardware.com/monitor...ck-tandem-oled

Not a 32" but hopefully the panel gets lots of use and they make a 32" version eventually.

I just want to see what they have for their C6 42".

And I picked up a 4tb m.2 drive for Black Friday. Looks like those are also priced way higher now too following after RAM.

Any suggestions for a solid motherboard to pair with the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D I just purchased?
I don't really know what features I'd really need. I just want something that will make best possible use of this processor and whatever graphics card I'll wind up paying far too much for.
ASRock Taichi keeps coming up but really don't want to pay $500 for a MOBO. I think really any x870 board would be ok?

Do not get Asrock amd boards right now. They have a pretty bad reputation right now of killing x3d chips.

Good to know, thanks! Currently looking at a Gigabyte board that should do the trick.
