Ya. That would have been easier. My dad was away and gave me directions by text message to fill it, but I wasn't able to purge the air from the jet pump, and gave up while standing in the pit opening and closing the purge valve cycling the pump. Ten minutes of that was quite enough.

Two days later I hit the jet button, and in glorious fashion, it had fixed it self. "Sweet!" I thought, in the reclined seat with my beer and gazed at the mountains bathed in alpenglow as strong distant winds wiped snow from the peaks. Four minutes later the jets turned off. "The jets turn off after 15 minutes", I thought to myself. "That was not 15 minutes."

Then I heard the unmistakable sound of water escaping containment below deck. Quickly removing the deck boards to access the hatch(It's mounted halfway below deck level on the ground), I see water gushing from between the tub and a plastic outer liner. I reach around looking a lot like Mr Bean at this point, in full panic, towel wrapped around my waist, undersized crocs half containing my feet. Shoulders and hair frozen in the -10C air. I do not see a source of water from above.

I run inside and down to the basement and cut the breaker. Back outside now with a headlamp, as the lousy aplenglow is of no help in the pit. Aha! A 3/8th's silicone pressure release line between the pumps had disconnected itself the moment the jets fired, though I didn't hear it for four minutes. It's been at least 10 at this point, and the water level is noticeably lower.

I slide the hose and hose clamp over the fitting. It, well...it half stays on. I run to the garage for a socket set, still wrapped in a towel. Back to the pit, where before I can select a socket a huge gust of wind dislodges a giant icy cornice from the neighbours house, all over me, the pumps, the sockets...

I tightened it down, shut the lid, didn't bother closing the pit, grabbed my beer and ran into the shower. Spent the rest of the night by the fire.

Hot tubs are like boats. Better to use someone else's, as long as it's already running.

Why were you showering with a bear? That seems unwise.

He gets out and puts his balls in the snow? Then the hot tub feels hot again.

Solid plan.

Wait. Your dad is still alive? He must be 175 years old, judging by your posts.

Growng up in the 80’s we had an outdoor hot tub. Also a few adventures with that operationally. We typically got out after it had cooled down to 105F. Literally that was considered cold. We usually liked it around 112’ish. Why isn’t that considered normal anymore?

Hot tubs are amazing. We used the one in Big White almost daily, and now we're at home and probably gonna use ours a bunch before going back to work in January.

Seriously, the trick is to make it something of a ritual. Saturday mornings: no phones allowed, just our morning coffees in travel mugs, sitting in the hot tub looking over the downtown skyline. It's good stuff.

Whoever invented squeeky dog chew toys needs to die of pancreatic cancer.

Those whom actually buy them are worse. You are an a-hole.

This is a similar complaint as people who buy toys that make irritating noises for your children, like light sabers and things.

Source: I buy those toys for my friends' kids... and I do not have kids for them to reciprocate. Mwahahaha.

Next person to get fotze as for CP Secret Santa, has to hide a mini speaker somewhere outside his house that randomly plays squeeky dog chew toy sounds.

I'm used to my windshield being chipped up every year, and I accept it's a part of life living here. But a rock caught my driver side window and now there is a big crack in that window.

So I have to replace a windshield, a drivers side window and the front camera because of rocks.
