Thanks! Had no idea that happened. Well, sure sounds like someone who knows he's being traded. Interesting days ahead!

It was a weird interview. Soft questions but he still seemed awkward.
For example, he seemed to be over the BoA talk. Maybe that's a sign a deal is imminent?
Perhaps his agent is working on something with a team after they offered Conroy a package he would accept, and we're just waiting for that to wrap up?
Hope so. I love Ras, and would have preferred to keep him on a team friendly deal. But this has dragged out long enough and I hope he's gone before the break with a great package coming back for the Flames.

It feels like this is the last BoA for Rasmus. The last game before the Olympic break is also against the Oilers, but I don't think he's going to be here at that point.

Yeah, the Flame has gone out just like Sec214 said.
I hope we have new shiny things soon. Last game was sad - like the team knows something we don't. Did not like the vibe and want no more of that.

We’ve discussed/speculated about this one before, but thank god we didn’t pull a deal off that brought Hague back. Big bullet dodged. Flames made the right choice in not making that deal.
Flames scouting young players around the league/rumours going back to the summer we’re looking for a LHD could be on point.
Xhekaj + 1st seems like what an offer from Montreal could be (not saying I’d love it, but could be the type of deal we’re looking at)

Flyers and Dvorak are talking contract extension
Some teams believe that Dvorak will no longer be available in trade because the Flyers will be able to sign Dvorak
Egor Zamula might go to mutual contract termination tomorrow and then sign with another NHL team at a cheaper contract than his current $1.7 mil cap hit.
His agent who also represents Alexander Texier has offered it as an option to the Flyers.
Flyers would prefer to trade him for a player that could help them in the AHL.

Would Tampa be a good fit for Andersson (with an extension)? If so, would Connor Geekie be too much of an ask in return? Add in Coleman and maybe it’s Geekie + 1st + 2nd + ? No idea how valuable a prospect he is at this point. He’s having a ppg season in the AHL this year as a 21 year old center.

So do we expect a move to happen when the trade freeze gets lifted at midnight?

I thought the reason they could get a deal done was that Hague did not want to sign an extension in Calgary so once that was clear Vegas sent him to Nashville?

Correct. Hague declined, deal died.

I can't see TB giving up Geekie for Andersson, but I also wouldn't have thought the Avs were gonna give up Ritchie for Nelson, either. Ya just never know.

I think teams that want to win realize a couple things
1) their prospects and picks are on a balance of probabilities less likely to give them a chance to win the Cup than the player they are trying to acquire; and
2) there are fewer and fewer impact players that actually make UFA. Acquiring a player, even if they are not under contract after the year both gives them a chance to win that year and a chance to sign the player.
Given that most of the picks and prospects won’t help a team win for 4-5 years I really don’t think that teams with a legitimate chance to win place the same value on them that many seem to.

I wonder if Byfield could be in play for LA. He just doesn't seem to be hitting that next level of offense. Change of scenery time...

They probably want a RD upgrade. I just saw that both Hedman and McDonagh are on the IR and Cernak is on the LTIR, which really leaves them with a patchwork collection of randos playing D for them right now. So there would be immediate interest.
Looking long term, Andersson could be a good fit for the Lightning. With the cap going up and no significant signings to make they could easily fit an Andersson extension. With him being 6-7 years younger than Hedman and McDonagh there could be a transition from them to Andersson and whomever else is coming up in their system.
Geekie would be in line with what we want in return (young C with potential). The question would then be about balancing the trade to make it work.
