Default NHL 08 for XBOX 360

I'm not sure if any of you guys play or have been keeping track of the development but I read the developers blog available on IGN right now and am getting pretty excited.

It outlines two new features for NHL 08:

Create-a-play:

This allows you to take on player, skate down the ice to a position on the ice. You save it, grab another player and skate down the ice. Then a third, fourth, and your fifth. It allows you to create your own rushes (ie. two guys in front of the net/ dman pinching..etc.) and then execute whichever rush you "put together" during the game.

On the Fly AI:

This second one allows the AI to learn from you as you play, both offensively and defensively. Its outlined like this:

" Over the course of a game they will start to pick up on your tendencies and adjust accordingly to match their style of play to yours once you start to become predictable. For example, if you find continued success by passing for a one-timer in the slot on a 2-on-1 rush, the AI will adjust and start to take away the passing lane to eliminate the one-timer. Other examples include shutting down the point shot in-zone, stopping the cycle down low, taking away the half boards, etc. Again the AI starts to adjust when you are finding success and become predictable.

These AI adjustments will learn your tendencies not just during one game, but over the course of multiple games. Think about how this would work during the playoffs – the deeper you go into the playoffs, the harder it will be to win, because the CPU will already know how you play before the puck is dropped. "

Cool eh?

!! I'm most excited about the AI. I just hope it's not the same false sense of hope I have every year with this game. It would be sweet if a month into it I wasn't winning 70 games a season and sweeping my way to the stanley cup every year

This game seems like it will be unreal. They are making some great claims, let's hope most of them turn out well. NHL 07 was a lot of fun and a great base to build upon.

I'll be happy if the lines actually change on the fly and if I don't hit 20 posts per game.

Create-a-play is something I've been hoping for for years.

I'll be happy if 50% of the goals are weak shots that slowly trickle in behind a stupid looking goalie.

a tad curious in everything i've read and heard they have licensed all 29 AHL teams (might be 30 can't recall) so does that mean we might actually see a full farm team, in the same fashion of how a player has to have 1 game in the nhl before he can be added to the game. If so that would be great because then we'd actually have full rosters, and call ups.

That's true. All 29 AHL teams will be licensed and in the game. All 29 AHL arenas will be re-created as well. That's awesome. It's exciting to me to be able to play a game in the arena I've spent years in.

I'll be happy if they don't ignore PC users and actually put these into the game, unlike NHL 2007, which was a clone of 06.

Really thinking I ought to get an Xbox for this game but the price still gives me pause.

Are we expecting a price drop anytime soon?
