I am a Conservative who is a Carney fan and have followed him for quite some time dating back 20+ years when I was a 20 year old finance guy. He is a serious player and I think he will be good overall for Canada. I do think he suffers form "I am the smartest man in the room and 1000% know it" syndrome and that can be off putting. Lots of early reports about how he brushes away senior cabinet ministers concerns and has had difficulty staffing up the PMO.
We will see how well he does on the retail level politician and how well he can deal with Canadian pocketbook issues long term.
I’m fine with all of that though. It’s not supposed to be a country club, and if he’s tough to work for because he’s demanding, that’s good with me.

I agree with your sentiment - it can definitely be off-putting. But in his defense, he probably is, in fact, the smartest person in the vast majority of rooms he finds himself in.

Yeah, Carney probably does think that.
In a lot of rooms, he's probably right.
Poilievre also probably thinks that.
I suspect he is correct in far fewer rooms.

Can you imagine being in the same class as Ezra, Smith, Anders and Nenshi? One out of four ain’t bad.
I was in the same graduating class (though not in poli sci), a couple of my friends were pretty heavily involved in student politics and political clubs. I don't remember ever meeting Smith, of the others Nenshi was the only one that came across as a decent human being.
