It was 10 teams with Toronto. And for sure he left the Avs off, probably because he figured they were safe.
Look at my hypothetical and tell me which of those teams would trade for Kadri.

What?
Canes, VGK, Devils, and Avs are all potential suiters. And SJS, and ANA could end up in the mix.
You're on crack if you think you can make a 13 team list - in the summer - that would effectively eliminate all potential suiters.

It’s true that it’s harder in the off season. But if that was the plan there’d be not very many holes. You’d need a team which is surprisingly good this year, but needs a centre, to be left off.
All I’m saying is that the scope really narrows. It’s not 18 teams to trade with. It has to be a perfect storm of a team that needs a centre, can afford Kadri, and that has assets to trade, and who is not on his list (or who he’d waive for, like Toronto).

sure, but you don't need 18, you just need 2 to generate a competitive discussion

And I'm saying it's hard to even get two when you eliminate that many. If I was to guess at who Kadri left off and who would be involved I'm left with Toronto, and they have no assets.

I know what you're saying - it's pretty straight-forward. But I think you're seriously overconfident here. No way you can eliminate all the potential suiters with a 13 team list. Made in advance of the season.

It's hard. But it could happen. This year would have been especially hard though. He could have left Detroit off I suppose.

It's not hard to have suitors who are NOT on his 13-team no trade list, however, it's a matter of finding the right deal that is the bottleneck.

And he may actually include cities and teams where he doesn’t want to end up and not solely try to block a trade. That’s a more likely scenario IMO.
Anyway Flames are boat racing the first place team in the Division and have been playing well for two months. A Kadri trade is unlikely to be on the front burner right now.

He may do that, but I think it so happens that most of the places he doesn't want to go also are teams that don't need centres. Dallas, Carolina, Florida.

Carolina needs one. They'd likely send over a top prospect, a 1st, and Kotkaniemi back.

Take all of those bits and parts, and just give us Bradley Nadeau.

How are the Canes suitors? They have two good centres, as do the Avs. Vegas can't make a trade with their cap. Plus they have Eichel, Hertk and Barbashev. The Devils also are tight to the cap. The Ducks and SJ are set at centre as well.

the cap is rarely the deterrent people expect it to be - when there's a will there's a way

That's true. But I think Jersey would be hard pressed to make a decent trade with Calgary if they also have to move salary. I'd be all for it if they had something to give.
I think Kadri will be moved. But I think it's a lot harder than people make out.
But then, that might be the crack talking.

Maybe something involving another team. Something like this:
To New Jersey:
Kadri
To San Jose:
Hamilton
To Calgary:
Anton Silayev
New Jersey’s 2026 1st round pick
San Jose’s 2026 2nd round pick

They're creeping up the standings. Starting to highly doubt they would move Kadri.

Stankoven would be better off a winger with his size. Also not that great at FOs.
