Noted hockey on tv expert and urinal czar staples writing about the latest hot goalie prospect.
It’s the guy who was the spare echl goalie last year who floated around teams that just got called up to Bakersfield because Ingram got called up.
It’s fawnboying of the highest degree.

of course he's the hottest prospect when you compare to the crap that they've had over the years. in fact, id love to see a stat comparison of all the goalies who have come and gone, and who was their last 'decent' goalie

Hopefully, Minny can run them out of the building today, and the Oilers will go into full panic mode on their goaltending.

This could potentially torpedo the Oilers’ season. Refs will definitely need to step up their game and gift-wrap some more McPPs to get the Oilers through this.

I love it. Make moves to shore up their goaltending, a week later have the worst goalies in two leagues minding the crease.
It's almost.. karmic.

Is that what they were trying to do? The move they made suggests they weren't trying to improve anything.

From a non-oilers management perspective it's clearly lateral at best, but of course they believed that.
Probably thinking that Jarry simply not being Stu Skinner would be an improvement in itself.

So I guess Principe didn’t see that tweet about the goalies before today’s game. His bit was so bad I had to get it transcribed to post.
“In the cards between the Edmonton Oilers and the Minnesota Wild. Hi everybody and welcome to Rogers Oilers Hockey and Sportsnet. I'm Gene Principe. A couple of Fridays ago, as the Edmonton Oilers started out on this trip, seems like so long ago, they made a huge deal that involved the Pittsburgh Penguins and goaltenders, along with Brett Kulak. Well, that goaltender that they picked up was hurt against the Boston Bruins. Big win, but a big loss. But we don't know for how long yet. Tristan Jarry still to be fully evaluated on the part of the Edmonton Oilers training and medical staff. So Calvin Pickard steps in and just does what he does. He stops pucks. It's that simple. When you talk to a goalie, you say, what do you have to do? They say, I need to stop pucks. Well, in case Calvin wasn't able to stop pucks today, or maybe over the next little while, the Edmonton Oilers had to call up Connor ………… INGRAM, even though it was McDavid that just walked in front of him. There's Ingram, a veteran NHL goaltender. October 1st, Stan Bowman made a really sly move in getting him from the Utah Mammoth for future considerations, knowing that maybe at some point in time, they would need a goaltender. And today and right now is that day. So that Friday morning, we're heading on the road. And then next thing you know, big deal. You think, OK, could it get any bigger than this? Oh, a hughes deal on the part of the Minnesota Wild. They're trying to go to bed Friday night. Bill Guerin's making meatballs and making trades.”
Pickard, in fact, does not and did not stop pucks.

After the Skinner trade and including the Ingram recall, the Oilers now have almost $9 million of cap space spent on goaltending this season (including the Campbell hit). Sure, Jarry being injured is bad luck and if he is out long term, they could get some LTIR relief, but still not very efficient.
I might be going out on a limb here, but if Jarry has already been out for several days and they aren't in a hurry it seems to have him fully evaluated, that probably suggests that they know he won't be back that soon and therefore there is no rush. Just me maybe jumping to conclusions.

every team strives for consistency and the Oilers having a goalie in both the NHL and AHL with the worst save % is as consistent as you can get. Oilers management knows a thing or two about winning
