Yes but does Phillip Danault have the value to return Evans? I would argue his value is more in line with Beck.

Door isn't shut for now. Sharks are speaking with 2 other teams on a right shot defenseman as well. That's the biggest piece they want. 1 defenseman is from an Eastern Conference team and is already under contract.
Jeff Skinner is being benched for the 5th time in 8 games and he along with Ferraro and Liljegren are the pieces being explored. 2-3 teams have called on Liljegren.

Have to figure the E Conference RHD is Hamilton. Can see the other one being Faulk from STL.

Taking on Dougie for 2 more years after this at 9 million given how good of a dman he is these days would be something.
Faulk is a decent option but not as good as a re-signed Rasmus.

I am NOT advocating for this at all but the argument to make for doing so would be to end up with 6 D that look like
Bahl-Andersson
Weegar- Parekh
Kuznetsov- Bruz
which could be a decent core for a while then you focus on forwards.

Also, the fact is that Coleman isn't moving unless he wants to.

I’m 100% confident in my source on this one, and was told very bluntly that Andersson won’t be re-signing in Calgary (mutual decision) so this would be a surprise.
Not saying you’re wrong, but that would be crazy (bad) imo.

Looks great today. Unfortunately, I suspect that Andersson is in the midst of a career season. If you could sign him for $5M X 8 years, then go for it, but I'm pretty sure Andersson says no.

Roster freeze is in effect in what, 2.5 hours or so? Let's reconvene on the 27th.

“Pretty sure”? He 100% would not sign that contract.

it's a very weird dichotomy. Either we get a nice haul or we lock in to a really bad deal? If you don't trade him, and work on contract, Ras will hold all the cards, he has no incentive to lower his ask. So they would have to give in. It doesn't make sense to pivot wildly like that. Either you want to trade or you want a deal. Plan B is a mediocre trade or even walking, not the exact opposite...

Not the neutered one that we see today, thanks in large part to D. Sutter.
I've heard it said before, you don't expect your thoroughbreds to pull the wagon nor your clydesdales to win the races.
You will never convince me that Sutter's system and dinosaur attitude had nothing to do with this:

It has been multiple years since Sutter was here.
This is completely on Huberdeau. He's ####ing useless.

Oh, you're right. The system has changed so dramatically. He's allowed to play the type of game he did in Florida.

Nobody said that.
It remains the case that Sutter has been gone for years. If you want to blame a coach, blame Huska. Or just admit that Huberdeau is getting older and isn’t a 115-point player anymore.

Ahem.
Habs trade for Danault. Called it weeks ago. Or at least days ago.

Florida doesn’t even play the game he did in Florida, and they started winning cups.

The Panthers abandoned run-and-gun three seasons ago. Since then, two Stanley Cups and three Finals appearances. Goal scoring wins highlight reels. Goal differential wins hockey games.

You guys have to admit though the Flames are one of the worst teams for a playmaker to put up points. Huberdeau would probably have much better stats on a number of teams

You’ve got the $ and M on the wrong digits. Andersson is looking more at 8.5-9.5m.
