Celebrated Square Root Day
|
I guess when I was reffering to them drinking, it was more the traditional sense, the fact that they pass the beers around and then pour them on the sidewalk. It's actually a pretty common traditionm amonsgt certain groups of people. But if they were just sitting around all day drinking and possibly causing problems to passerbys, then that is a completely different story.

Yet they caused problems, They attacked a innocent person just because they thought she looked like the female who pushed the teen into the train. The police had her under control and one teen came up and gave her a extra shot. Im not trying to be a debbie downer but if they want to pass beer and remember him then maybe they can do it at one of their homes.

I feel bad for this kids family, but it certainly sounds like his lifestyle choices got him killed.
Hopefully its a message to his group of friends, that what he was doing got him killed.
I do thank god that this kid or his assailant weren't carrying guns or knives at the time.

I'm not sure if this is this is the right time to be saying this, but is it just me, or does it seem odd to anybody else that this 'memorial' involved a tribute in the form of drinking (and spilling) beer?

They've been listening to too much hip hop and kid Rock.
Personally the last friend of mine that we buried, we went over to his families house to help out the widow and her kids.

Muta, he was looking forward to his 18th birthday next week. I know for my 18th I was going on and on about it; even though I had been going to bars for years before then. With that in mind, I can see his friends pouring him a beer.

Fair enough. I didn't clue in on that. I thought that maybe beer was just a huge component of their lives somehow.

Actually, his birthday wasn't for 6 weeks. I don't even know why it was brought up by his friends.

Yes, obviously you have not read the story. This thread is not about somebody standing too close to a train, or trying to beat a train. It is about a person being pushed into a train.
|
Why was our friend 'meat' pushed? It was a drug deal gone bad. He pushed the girl and then a little later she pushed him back and unlucky for him he saw his life go by in a few seconds.
Goofing around or horseplay around a moving train or standing on or near the yellow line is not following the rules and can lead to death especially near a moving train. If people think its 'fun' or whatever they should just lie down on the CP tracks on the South CP Right-of-Way and fall asleep or jump in front of a tractor trailer unit going full speed. Goofing around near a c-train is no different.

The only issue I have is with people who don't follow the rules and then complain that buddy 'meat' gets creamed. Cry me a river. Guys like me are stuck filling out paperwork, but hey I don't mind the O.T. $$$ and the paid days off that are given to help guys like me deal with the loss of 'meat'. Keep enjoying paying your municipal taxes. They help cover such things.

I wonder if it is time to start putting gates along the train line. I know it would be less convenient, but I hear about alot of instances of people being pushed onto train tracks across North America. I have been on Skytrain in Vancouver and there are some people with mental issues who have to be cautious of.

Its pretty sad when we have to go out of our way as far as safety goes because people are too stupid to have any common sense.

I don't think anyone is blaming transit? I've been avoiding this thread but you're arrogant attitude seems to be overlooking the fact that a 17 year old was murdered and the C-train was used as a weapon. You're more concerned about filling out paperwork after someone's life is lost? Unbelievable. I'm glad you're only a transit driver and not anyone in a position of authority.

If the reports are true that "12-Gage" tossed the girl off the platform first, then I have a hard time feeling sorry for him. If someone attempts to murder another person, or at least purposely puts them in a situation where death could easily result, they are definitely living by the sword.
Not that I don't feel bad for his family, but hopefully this unfortunate event helps to straighten out some of the brats.

At first when I heard this story I was shocked that someone could push another human being into a train. After getting more information about his lifestyle it is getting harder and harder for me to feel sorry for him. It just seems the media and his friends are making him out to be a saint, when in reality that is not the case at all.
