I watched a great Spanish Christmas horror movie You are not Me . The basic premise is a woman returns home on Christmas Eve to her parents house only to have them replace her with an unknown woman. It's very creepy and atmospheric and a great Christmas horror movie.

Watched this last night. He really WAS IRL as dumb as he was portrayed. Weird story, but the acting was decent. OK movie…time filler at best though for me.

not a movie but a TV special.
didn't know where else to put it.

The best Christmas show I've seen this year is
Bryan Adams & Friends Great Big Holiday Jam.

No stupid fluff just a jam in in the "Warehouse Studio" in Vancouver.
All Canadian artists.
Some really good arrangements on some of the songs.

Especially the version of Deck the Halls he did with the artist "Lights".

the other artists were
Alessia Cara, Alan Doyle, Barenaked Ladies, and The Sheepdogs

It’s a good movie, I was just disappointed I need to go back and watch some of the spin offs to understand the characters. Was hoping it stood on its own

Avatar 3 was exactly as advertised. It’s just a rewrite of the first one and second one combined. People who enjoy being entertained will like it and the people who hate it will continue to spend a not insignificant amount of time yelling into the internet void about how much its existence ruins their lives.

It’ll no doubt make a billion or two. It’s every bit as pretty as the last two to look at. The story is derivative, the writing is stilted, the cliches are many, the message is delivered with the subtlety of a sledgehammer but it was a quick 3 hours.

Oona Chaplin (Robb Stark’s wife) as the ash lady was excellent. The only real notable performance since Zoe Saldana in the first one.

And when was the last time a sentient whale gave a speech that really tugged on the heartstrings? Hmmm? I mean since the last one of course.

The first Avatar was a fun ride, mostly because it was super innovative at the time, and it was an immersive theatrical experience from a technical standpoint. But story and character-wise it was incredibly derivative and unmemorable.

I still haven’t seen the 2nd one, and I have zero interest in the 3rd (or 4th or 5th or however many of these Cameron is making). This seems to be all he does now, which is a big letdown IMO. I honestly wish he’d go back to making cool original stories again like the Abyss, Terminator, True Lies, etc… but I guess he’s happy just being a special effects/technology wizard. I feel like he still has so much more to offer as a filmmaker, and it’s disappointing that he’d rather be Mr. Avatar for the rest of his career.

Watched Wake Up Dead Man A Knives Out Mystery last night and really enjoyed it. Josh Brolin was great and Daniel Craig was his usual excellent in his role as the Southern PI Benoit Blanc. Glenn Close, Mila Kunis and Jeremy Renner were excellent in their supporting roles.
8/10

Watched Tron Area last night.

10/10 NIN/Trent Reznor music video. That was the main reason I wanted to watch it lol

Otherwise, completely forgettable.

I'll watch Avatar 3 over two or three nights at home. No way I'm sitting in a theatre through that.

Itse, I think you'd want to start at the first one. Though the confusion of not knowing all the previous world building might be fun.

I also watched Tron: Ares and...this is about as bang on a review as I can think of.

Yes and no. The story isn’t complicated but there’s definitely some character backgrounds and motivation that will make more sense if you’ve seen the first two. But nothing is so complicated that you can’t fill the gaps.

Avatar 3 was pretty awesome in IMAX 3D. Definitely enhanced the experience seeing it in that format. I have seen all 3 but I barely remember the 1st, so I'm still trying to fill in gaps about how the few human guys turned blue.

I was at first put off by the 3 1/2 hour screentime, but the movie did a good job jumping from battle scene to battle scene with just enough downtime to give a break in between. The action is pretty damn epic and the movie looks awesome in IMAX.

I'm not a huge fanboy of it, but given I hit up the movies only a few times a year these days and it has to be something worthwhile seeing, this definitely is.

Every time I think about watching the second Avatar, I look at the run time and decide I have better ways to spend 3 hours. I might get around to watching it some day... then maybe part 3.

I was kinda the same but for some reason I felt the urge to watch the 2nd Avatar last night and it was pretty enjoyable. I forgot how unreal the effects were and I think I'll end up seeing the 3rd one in the theatre just for that experience.
