I wasn't in NA until 1976. Got shots pretty well right away but the mumps vaccine wasn't quite available at the time.

Ah the mid 70s! What a time to be alive!
Or so I'm told.

My family arrived in Canada as refugees in the late 80s. There were no records of our vaccinations (I guess my parents had other priorities when fleeing the curtain). One random day in elementary school about a year or two later, I was minding my own business playing math games on the Apple IIe, when I got called into the nurses office (back when they still had such a thing?). Promptly received about half a dozen needless to bring me up to speed. No parents consent form, no nothing, just bam, you're up to speed now kiddo. Good times!

####ing hate that question. What makes you ask that other than me being a POC? It's so thinly veiled racism that I don't even think the person realizes. I guess they mean well and it just comes across terribly?
I don't need to be a devout Jesus lover to celebrate Christmas, Allah dammit!

Even as a white guy this type of #### drives me nuts. I'll say Merry Christmas and some smartass will go "You too, soon you won't be able to say that!"
Groan. Just take the friendly greeting and #### off

Talked with my MIL yesterday. They've been having issues with their internet/tv and wanted me to assist them over the phone. First, I don't know the slightest bit about your entire system, and 2, you guys are such luddites, that I may as well be trying to fix Rover on Mars with the "help" of a little green alien - they have no clue what I'm talking about when I tell them. Hell, I've even made printed manuals for them, complete with screenshots and very specific step by step instructions and they always claim they can't figure it out. They're waaaaaaay up north and techs have to make a 3 hour drive to fix things, so their provider is just sending them an entire new "black box." (whatever that means) Sometimes, I wish they'd just get rid of their computer, they really don't use it, except for FB and a couple of games.
But, MIL was very happy with the tech that assisted her, because he listened when she told him that she pretty much knew nothing about any of it, and was 80. So, he was very specific for her, and helped a bunch. But, she had to make sure that we knew "he spoke English and he wished her 'Merry Christmas' instead of 'Happy Holidays.'" Hubby and I both rolled our eyes. After we finished talking, and were saying goodbye, just as she was hanging up, so I knew she heard me but had no time to come back, I said I hoped she had a happy holiday next week, since we wouldn't see them next year.
Yeah, no thanks to the subtle racism/bigotry and religious nonsense. I've been respectful of her/them for 35 years now, but I'm pretty over that crap. Hubby and his brother are as well, and have started calling them out more and more. I think it's part of the reason they come up with all the excuses to not visit my BIL and us. No one puts up with the crap anymore, subtle or overt.

As it should be.
I remember getting vaccinations in school. No forms, no information there could have been anything in those needles.
*JAB* Alright...carry on.
I do remember one buddy of mine getting vaccinated...in the lunch room! The nurse could not get it right, I think she jabbed him 4 times. It was HILARIOUS!!
Guy is terrified of needles, even tiny little vaccine needles and this nurse is using him as a pincushion...I think he's still traumatized but we all thought it was funny as all hell.

We moved to South America in the late 70s. We were all pin cushions, parental consent, though.

I feel like those people's sole purpose is to try and bait people into telling them they don't celebrate Christmas, just so they can get all triggered respond back with "I'll say Merry Christmas all I want damnit! I'm not gonna let some PC lib to tell me what to do!".
The fact is, no one gets offended by wishing other people a Merry Christmas. It's some made up boogyman from the hardcore right to whip themselves into a fake outrage frenzy to push their racist agenda.

Yep.
"Merry Christmas" offends no one. If they dont celebrate Christmas...they'll tell you. No harm, no foul.
My In-Laws have a sign on their door "Keep Christ in Christmas." They are exactly the kind of people you're talking about.

I always wonder why people who don't really celebrate Christmas or don't like the religious aspect of Christmas, celebrate during this time? Why the gift buying and all this jazz with associated stresses? Just cause people want to get Tim Hortons gift cards?
Why do people get weird about calling it Christmas or saying happy holidays? Why are people so lazy and go with Xmas? Why are religious Christians sometimes offended at Xmas when the X in that word means Xristos (Christ) in Greek and associated languages ?

I was in grade 5 when nurses came to our school and pin cushioned everyone. They came back 2 weeks later to hit whoever was missed. In that short span of time they lost my records so Mom, bless her heart, said hit him again and they did. I got the whole works - never been sick since.

To your first paragraph, to most people Christmas is about traditions. To some, that means the religious bit, but to others, it's just doing what they've always done but skipping the time wasting church bit. Gifts don't have a lot to do with Christ's birth these days, I don't remember hearing he got a PlayStation. Nobody is exchanging gifts with thought and consideration to the three wise men and some incense. That's the last thing on people's mind.
As to your second paragraph, people are mostly ignorant #######s, but generally mask it well. You are observing leakage.
But also, are you suggesting it's lazy, offensive, and also perfectly normal because of the Greek angle? Lots to square there...
Or maybe you were just working on a Van Morison verse.

I am just observing and find some of the debates people have with this one specific holiday interesting. What happens with Christmas and associated debates really doesn't happen in other holidays. Random white people aren't handing out cash in red envelopes during Chinese New Years calling it something other than Chinese New Years. On the flip side you have a lot of gringos eating taco salads on Cinco De Mayo and drinking Corona meanwhile the Mexicans are thinking wtf is happening here?

I’m a white guy who has done Chinese New Years with my Asian friend!
Partying , drinking , eating , getting together and giving presents is fun ! Maybe that’s why people participate ?

Not true.
We're having to release all those imprisoned for wearing poppies to free up jail space for all those convicted for saying "Happy Christmas"

It’s entirely this. It’s fun to hang out and socialize, and exchanging gifts and that aspect is also fun. I don’t come across anyone debating the religious significance and as far as I can tell, no one in my circles seems to care. I’m sure that’s not the case in others, where people are Christians and really celebrate that aspect, and that’s fine, but for the majority of people it’s really not about that at all.

I don’t yhink I’ve ever been asked how I celebrate Christmas. But I’m white so it’s probably different. I celebrate not having to work for a week.

Anyone complaining that Christmas isn’t a Christian holiday anymore has to be at least 80 to remember when it was. For generations now, publicly at least it has been a winter bacchanalia centred on gatherings, gifts, and food.
