Scott Wheeler's impressions at camp (paywall):

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/688...shared_article

Quote:
My impression entering camp was that up front, the Brantford duo of Blackhawks first-rounder Marek Vanacker and Kraken first-rounder Jake O’Brien were on the bubble. I still think that’s true, but both were noticeable in camp.
Quote:
On the back end, Jackson Smith and Keaton Verhoeff are the most likely to be cut. I’d guess that Smith is more likely the odd-man out (Canada has five lefties and four righties in camp, and so cutting Smith would give the team an even split), but it also sounds like they think Verhoeff has some work to do to polish his game, and he turned over some pucks in the scrimmages this week.
Quote:
I wondered if Cole Reschny was on the bubble to start camp, and he might still be, but they slotted him on PP1 in the bumper, and he looked really good there.

Also from Wheeler's Athletic article this morning:
Quote:
Canada tested out Cameron Reid (who broke up a bunch of plays in the scrimmage with his anticipation) and Mackenzie alongside Parekh throughout the week, and Parekh thought he and Reid could have the same impact the Cole Hutson-Zeev Buium pair had for Team USA last year.

Behind the Parekh pair, they’re looking to build more of a shutdown pair around Brunicke, and both Kashawn Aitcheson and Carson Carels got looks there. I’d bet it’s Aitcheson-Brunicke in the end. That’s the role they played at their U18 Worlds in Finland, where both emerged as the tournament went on as go-to players in defensive situations.

Do we have a list of players’ jersey numbers?

I've always struggled to find the plunder. Can anyone more experienced on the high seas PM me? I'd love to see Parekh and Reschny play.

Good win...anyone notice Zayne out there with a 2-1 lead with the opposition goalie pulled? Nice shot block

He looked decent running the PP too zipping around the zone.

Didn’t see Reschny all that much.

Considering Zayne hasn't played a game in weeks, I thought he looked good. I'm sure his game will improve with more reps but he was doing what he does, jumping into plays, showing off that great skating, trying to get shots through.

Mckenna against peers his own age is deadly.

I thought Reschny played ok in the 3rd. He killed some penalties and missed a pretty good chance on a powerplay (open net but his shot hit the defenceman).

I missed a lot of the game though.

Yeah I thought Reschny was meh but he was out there for both PP and PK as well as the last minute so it seems like the coaches trust him in critical points of the game. Button at the second int did say him and Cootes were good.

Reschny was under the radar good.

First up on both PP1 and PK1, taking key draws ... was out protecting the lead and took the two D zone draws.

If you dig into details he was one of their better forwards last night.

I'd assume he makes the team.

O'Brien and Vannacker the cuts.

Agreed, I think he was very good on the advanced stats front.
He also is great on the PK with Luchenko which will be invaluable at this tournament.

I'd add that Greentree could also be a cut, he looked pretty pedestrian out there and the team is loaded with offensive guys.
