I don't think anyone is upset. I think a lot of people understand were the team is and are content with a win and content with a loss. I think the negativity hanging over the team just has to do with the grind to get closer to the Olympic and trade deadlines. Everyone knows the Flames need an elite, it is just a slow slog through the season to get there. I think that adds to it a bit, we can see it happening in front of us, but it can't happen fast enough.
In the 2013 rebuild it didn't feel as bad because it was a lockout shortened season. 48 total games that year, Flames have played 34 so far.

I don’t think anyone is overly upset, some were hoping for a better performance from our almost 30 year old goalie but I don’t think folks are too upset.

You’re just projecting because you spent all day yesterday crying about a win that never happened lol.
Kind of perfect day for you, eh? Maximized the complaining and the team you don’t like still lost.

Bedard and Celebrini are unusual. Again, my view is that Celebrini is the best prospect to come along since McDavid and the closest thing to Crosby we've seen because of the completeness of his game, offensive skills and compete.
There was thought that McKenna was also of this quality, but it's clear he's not.
Tiering guys is always dangerous but if we look over the top 3 picks since the McDavid draft
Generational potential: Celebrini, Bedard
Superstar : Schaefer, Carlsson, Fantilli, Hughes, Matthews
Star : Misa, Frondell, Levshunov, Sennecke, Cooley, Stutzle, Dahlin, Heiskanen
Good but not great: Slafkovsky, Nemec, McTavish, Beniers, Byfield, Svechnikov, Hischier,
Meh to Bust: Lafreniere, Kakko, Dach, Kotkaniemi, Patrick, Laine, Dubois
I think the franchise altering guys are Superstar and above. But even then, it's more likely you get something resembling a star player or a good player.
This is why re-builds are so hard. Which isn't to say that you don't need those top picks. You do because they are your best chance.
But this is why so many teams have failed re-builds. You need a lot of luck to hit on one of those guys that can change your franchise.

I haven't complained at all after the loss. I think the crying might be coming from the other side.
I am content with the loss and optimistic about getting an elite player if we draft top 3.

Why are you trying to manufacture conflict and division on the site by talking about who is up set and what side they are on?

Getting a true superstar centre outside the top three is improbable and remote, but not 0%. Three of my all-time favourites in fact, in part because they were not top picks.
Anze Kopitar: top-20 era-adjusted points all time, 1,500-game club, 1,300-point club, 2-time Selke winner, 4-time Selke finalist, inevitable Hall-of-Famer.
Patrice Bergeron: top-75 era-adjusted points all time, 1,200-game club, 1,000-point club, 6-time Selke winner, 12-time Selke finalist. Imminent Hall-of-Famer.
Pavel Datsyuk: top-125 era-adjusted points all time despite fewer than 1,000 game played, 3-time Selke winner, 6-time Selke finalist. Hall-of-Fame class of 2024.

We lost a game. Team Tank is happy, for a wing and a prayer lottery ball bounce on McKenna. Team Not Tank is happy because they cheered on the flames no matter win or lose.
Move on to next game. The season will play out regardless of how much angst we post.

Jiri, let's not pretend that Rhett is the poster who started acting like this. It is dumb and petulant, no doubt, but I can point to three posters who have been acting like this in reverse for more than a year. They basically always post that me and Rhett are the same, for example, when I often disagree with Rhett and post opposing points to him.

He wants conflict.
He starts by saying there is a lot of negativity.
What I see is people generally happy with a loss that keeps the team down in the standings, with some offering Celebrini's performance as a proof point to counter Maloney's recent comments. I see some concerns about Wolf. I don't see much overall negativity.
Then he goes further and assigns that negativity to "the other side" without any evidence of this. He doesn't quote anyone. He doesn't offer any evidence of this.
He is intentionally sewing division and conflict. He routinely manufactures false narratives, mis-characterizes what others say, and will make up things to support his warped perceptions.
He's a troll and should be treated as such.

To be clear, I don't view you and Rhett as the same at all.
You and I disagree, and probably have not treated each other well at times. But I think (hope?) there is some level of respect there.
My issues are with Rhett. I think he's toxic.

Unfortunately, since going to the NCAA, McKenna has been trending towards the Meh to Bust category. He's got great tools, but I'm not convinced that they're going to translate to the NHL level with his reported lack of compete in puck battles and tendency to regularly blow the D zone prematurely. I don't think there's a Celebrini in this year's draft. The key season to tank is next season. Not that I'm bothered in any way by losses this season, as long as they don't result from a lack of compete.

I am not a troll actually and just last night in the game thread saw you all upset with another poster and arguing with them as well. You called them "cranky pants".
