Trump Chief of Staff Susie Wiles article in Vanity Fair where she gave some assessments of her work friends...
- Donald Trump has "an alcoholic’s personality”
- Pam Bondi "whiffed on Epstein"
- JD Vance a "conspiracy theorist"
- Russ Vought a "right wing zealot"
- Elon Musk an "avowed ketamine user"
I havent read it yet but I do wonder if she sees a sinking ship and is just starting to throw things overboard before she jumps.

There is no way back for people who were central to the problem all these years. You can't just flip sides at the last minute as you quit and get absolved of everything you've done up to that point. People need to understand that if you participate in a regime like this, there will be consequences, and there is no way to avoid those consequences. So don't facilitate fascism.

Mick Foley, ladies and gentlemen.
Quote:
Pro wrestler Mick Foley parts ways with WWE over its Trump ties, cites Rob Reiner remarks as 'final straw'
Legendary pro wrestler Mick Foley announced Tuesday he's done with World Wrestling Entertainment for at least three years, citing the company's close ties to Donald Trump and the president's "incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death."
Foley told his 633,000 Instagram followers that he informed the WWE on Monday that he "would not be making any appearances for the company as long as this man remains in office."
"I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy," Foley wrote.

The fact they are blowing up boats and people in the Pacific also, which Venezuela does not touch in any way, seems to escape the conversation for some reason.

Is it still taboo to cheer for someone's death?
Because once this guy dies a horrible death, I will personally buy a first class ticket and #### on his grave.

I assume the "stolen" land, oil and assets he is referring to were the properties leased to US oil companies years ago that were probably nationalized when these companies left or were kicked out or whatever. Y'all are not getting those just given to you. That's not how this works. Bunch of thugs drunk on power.

Doesn't matter to his followers, their grasp on geography is non-existent... he just looks "tough" to them.

That is perhaps the least unhinged... most hinged? ... part of that release.

Venezuela is about security of the type of oil Canada usually provides.
If they go get it from Venezuela, it’s not good for Canada.

As long as Canada is not selling oil to Iran or other sanctioned countries we should be ok.
https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/11/europ...et-tanker-intl
Sanctioned countries use these shadow fleets to transport oil and avoid sanctions. Russia uses these funds for its war on Ukraine.
Quote:
Also on Friday, the outgoing Biden administration targeted Russia’s energy sector, including its so-called “shadow fleet,” with some of its harshest sanctions to date. Zelensky welcomed the move.
The sanctions target nearly 200 oil-carrying vessels, many thought to be part of the fleet. A senior administration official said: “We expect our actions to cost Russia upwards of billions of dollars per month.”
In December 2022, the Group of Seven (G7) nations capped the price of Russian oil at $60 per barrel. The cap was designed to be enforced by companies that provide shipping, insurance and other services for Russian oil. If a buyer agreed to pay more than the cap, the companies would withhold their services.
To dodge these sanctions, Russia has used aging, often uninsured tankers flagged in countries that do not observe the G7 sanctions.
The Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), a Finnish think-tank, said 420 vessels exported Russian crude oil and oil products last month, of which 234 were “shadow tankers,” and 30% of these were at least 20 years old.
|
To be clear, I don’t know if this specific tanker is a part of a shadow fleet, but there is more to this than members of the G7 being inebriated on power.
