I guess the below tweet fits nicely into this positive thread. According to them, the underlying metrics for this Flames team are actually pointing to a team that isn't terrible. Generating a lot, preventing well but as some have said, lack talent to finish.

Rasmus is NHL first star of the week. Come get your stars for only the price of two high 1st rounders!

I especially love the fact that this team hasn't turned on each other. The team is full of guys with great character. No pouting. No finger pointing. No tantrums.

CP not representative of Flames players.

Great news. Not sure if that is a result of an unbelievably talented lineup or good coaching or both.

I would say committed systems play, but lack of finishing talent and Wolf having a rough start by his standards explains those rankings adequately.

Ethan Wyttenbach, Trevor Hoskins, and Cole Reschny are all having fantastic starts to their college careers.

I look forward to seeing these players come up through our system.

Mews was also slaying before he got injured.

We're really starting to see some of those plants sprout from all of the drafting over the last couple of years.

Few even had Wyttenbach or Hoskins on their radars as potential nhl pieces until as recebt as weeks ago.

The Flames have a very healty system of prospects now. A lot of good pieces, a couple of great ones (Gridin, Parekh).

At this point what they need is 1-2 blue chip types from the top of the draft. The depth is already excellent.

That Mews injury stings. Especially with Parekh coming out of the gate slow in the NHL and Bruz still toiling away in the AHL.

To me this entire season is a positive. The team needed to be dragged into a rebuild kicking and screaming, and that's exactly what is happening. I honestly couldn't be more happy than where the team stands right now. As I type this, 31st place, so really the lone negative I see happening is the damn Preds trying to out-tank us. They can #### off, this is our year.

Don't really care about Don Baloney's comments; like it or not a rebuild is happening. It's pretty obvious though, if there was any doubt over the past few decades, that ownership is definitely meddling with hockey decisions. Don coming out at the press conference and saying what he did when the team sat in last place spoke volumes. I don't doubt Conroy wants to see this down the rebuild path, and the challenging part is getting ownership on board fully.

Stay the course. Tank the season. Get a high draft pick and get some star power. I don't care about being called out for cheering for losses. What we've done the past 3 decades simply hasn't work and never will work. If me wanting to do things differently and get some stars mean I cheer for losses, than so be it.

I think we've got another positive in Hunter B.. To me he already looks ready to start filling a D position.. He's looking so poised.

I would add Kuz’s continued progression
He looks better the more he plays
I think he slots in as a dependable bottom pairing guy but an effective one. Not bad for a second rounder

In his last 12 games he's averaged 22:44 ice time while the Flames have gone 8-3-1

That's closer to top pair than bottom pair, and comfortably in the top 4 for sure.

I don't know what his fancy stats look like though.

- Morton is playing well, has 66.7FO%, fit well on the PK, and it looks like there's more offense there.
- Andersson is tied for 6th in the NHL in scoring for defensemen.
- Huberdeau is heating up with 4P in 4GP.
- Kadri figured out how to score in the shootout.
Hey Gvitaly, where did you find Morton’s faceoff stats? I’ve been trying to find a place for AHL faceoffs. Or is that just his NHL stat?

That was his NHL face-off stat with a very small sample size. As far as I know, the AHL doesn't officially publish (track?) FO%, or TOI.
