Pretty sure the boot lickers who post like the flames do no wrong said earlier that teams never say the word “rebuild”. No, other owners and managers do, and here’s an example of it so we can stuff that argument in the trash thankfully:
“They will be a key part of the rebuild that we are currently in” Jim Rutherford.

The Canucks traded a 1st round pick for Marcus Pettersson THIS YEAR

I'm right so you can't make any actual points
Two of the Flames best prospects are from trading them a rental 2 years ago, they traded a first in 2025 and have now traded a 26 year old superstar. Same GM. They also traded Arturs Silovs and signed Demko to term.
sweet rebuild
Management obviously thought the last rebuild was over already
Flames have made far more rebuilding moves than Vancouver despite what their GM started saying 2 weeks ago to save face. He was also on after hours a two months ago and said they weren't rebuilding lol. Flames have better prospects and more picks than the Canucks and still have bodies to move.

So you say no other teams say the word “rebuild”, I post a quote where that happened and you’re right?
Jesus Christ lol
Edit: this is so mind bottling it has to be trolling.

When did I say that?...the point is what you do is more important that what you say. Which team traded a first for a vet in 2025? Which team had 6+ first in three drafts? Which team has more cap space? We can list the moves Jim Rutherford has made vs. Craig Conroy and see who we think has done more rebuilding.

Except no one said that, because we all know NYR wrote their rebuild letter. We said it’s unusual.
But you really think the Canucks are a well run organization to emulate?

up until today the Canucks have been making all in moves for 3 years...the kind people pretend the Flames have made. Traded firsts, traded a young goalie, traded for rentals, signed retirement deals.
Even today they traded a 26 year old superstar best dman in franchise history because he didn't want to play there.
Shrewd management because he comes out and says "rebuild" lol He scoffed at the idea 2 months ago on after hours after the Oilers game check the archives
What choice does he have now?...his all in team is 32nd overall and his best player wanted out
Trade tree the Canucks over the last 3 years even including this deal...its hilariously bad

And after trying to make him change his mind for the past year. It took them nosediving to last place and it becoming a distraction for the team to finally give up.

It is crazy how with one trade Vancouver gets a 1st, gets a solid center going forward, gets a potential franchise defenseman, and is now almost a lock to pick in the top 3. Honestly, given the situation the trade is incredible for them if they will be rebuilding.
They might already be ahead of the Flames in their rebuild if they pick top 3. This of course depends on what we do with all our vets who we should try to trade but probably won't. It is just picking in the top 3 is a game changer.

I mean we can list rebuilding moves over the last year, two years, three years,
Flames have obviously made more...Canucks might have one to go along with a pile time to compete moves. There really is no debate to be had.

You keep glossing over the fact they traded their best dman in their 50 year franchise history at 26...not an old player aging out
Its like the Flames trading Wolf and Zayne and saying wow look at this potential!

Um no.... Zayne is in the same age and category as Buium. Both have potential but are not proven at all. We don't know at this point if Zayne will be a top 5 dman in the league or struggle to ever be a top pairing.
And I would take a top 3 pick over any goalie in the league. It is not that I don't like Wolf, I just think teams that build around a goalie don't tend to do as well. Goaltending is important but less so than having a franchise center and dman.

Point is the Canucks already had the best dman they have ever had in franchise history and should have had him for another 10+ years. They did well considering the circumstances but they put themselves into the circumstances so all this blowing smoke seems ####ing insane.
They should be in a cup window right now not 32nd overall...they already rebuilt

Yeah and they failed to build a contender around him and he wanted out. The organization failed him.
I am only saying this move they made today is a good rebuild move. It needed to happen because of all the dumb trades they made before this.

The Hughes trade is what the Tkachuk trade was for the Flames.
Will be interesting to compare the next couple years here for the Canucks vs the couple years after the Tkachuk trade for the Flames.

Point is it didn’t work out and they traded him for high end futures, unlike the Tkachuk trade where we ended up with Weegar (good defender, probably a #2-3 on a good team), the grisly downfall of Huberdeau, Schwindt, and the pick used on Potter.
I know what return I’d rather get between Hughes and Tkachuk.
