lol you will be disappointed , Andersson is not going to fetch a Buium level prospect. Quinn Hughes is a 26 yrs old superstar.
Andersson is not close to him

Buium has some serious work to do if that is the case. At the same age Hughes was averaging 0.78 PPG as a rookie dman, a level of production that Buium will come nowhere close to this year.

Buium reminds me of Shattenkirk at around the same age

Deal..
The return will be somewhere between Hanafin and Tanev. Hanafin is younger, Tanev is older than Ras at the time of the trade. The prospects in the deal were immaterial. Both deals had retention which was a bigger deal when those trades were made.
If Ras had term, I would agree the return would be higher.

Zeev Buium had 50 points in 42 games as a defenceman in the NCHC in his draft year. To put that in perspective, Zayne Parekh had an incredible NHLe of 38.5 in his draft year. Quinn Hughes had 21.4 in his draft year. Land Hutson had 39.7 in his draft plus one year. Zeev Buium’s draft year NHLe was 42.9.

Pretty good value for the Canucks. When you trade a star, the return is usually underwhelming. They need to tank hard the next few years, though. Don't pull a Flames and try to retool around nothing.

And Hughes was much better in his actual first NHL season.

Maybe.
Hughes was extremely sheltered that first season with 64.3% offensive zone starts
Buium right now is at 46.8% ozone starts.
That makes it really tough to just compare their counting numbers and say Hughes was substantially better.
Buium at 19/20 years old is very comparable to Hughes at the same age.

The wild got much better today. It's going to be interesting to see how it works out for them.

now that's a blockbuster. I like it for the Wild if they can keep Hughes. Obviously, the Canucks got lots of pieces.

Well they win a Cup and they certainly win the trade. They re-sign Hughes and they win the trade. Lots of ways for them to win this trade.

Very rare you see a top player in the NHL traded in his prime. Wow.

I think this could trigger an arms race that lands the flames something like bischel and a first. Would be a great return

Yeah. Also rare for a prospect as highly rated and promising as Buium to get traded. Very interesting trade and an exciting move for both teams. Have to admit I’m a little jealous of how aggressive it seems like the Canucks are leaning into their rebuild… they even use the word without hesitation. And they might trade Petterson as well. Sounds like a full scorched earth rebuild.
And they have good assets still to trade. They could get a good return for Hronek in the next year or so. If Demko stays healthy (big if) he could be a fit for a team looking to solidly their goaltending. Myers (with retention) could return a 2bd/3rd round pick. They have lots to tear down still but are already at the bottom of the standings.
