Wow I was telling a coworker who's a Canucks fan today that Minnesota might be a more tortured fan base than the Canucks as he was lamenting how bad being a Canuck fan was.

They do lose the best player in the deal, but they do get what looks to be two decent right now pieces who are younger. Maybe us Flames fans are just jaded by how terribly wrong the Tkachuck for Weegar and Huberdeau deal has gone. But this does look like a decent haul.

Pft… I was wrong Vinny… they made out quite well (again, I was never debating the value, just didn’t think that they’d max it out like that).

I am heart broken. Absolutely heart broken.

The deal is good. I don't think they could have done better. New Jersey was never going to give this much and the rumoured Washington offer wasn't close to this. They were never getting player like Quinn Hughes back in a trade but they got a lot of potential without being hoodwinked into junk like Jiricek.

It being a "good" deal doesn't make this feel any better.

Wow felt like he could get dealt soon with all the smoke but still a shocker to see it.

Buium gonna be a stud and the Buium vs. Parekh watch gonna be even more interesting now.

Pretty good deal for the Nucks especially given the circumstances

Zeev Buium first dropping to 12th in the draft, now being traded midway through a solid rookie season. Wild.

The Flames (hopefully) still have trades to make, and the Canucks are already below them in the standings.

Why? you should be used to it. Don't worry the Canucks will eff up this rebuild too. It is the way.

I think that this sort of cements them to the bottom more than pulling them up. They got a lot younger and potential though which is sort of what they needed. This is a sign that they are going to go into a strong rebuild while trying not to tear everything down.

Then again maybe they will trade the first for an aging defenseman who they can sign to a long term contract...

Buium looks like a good one. Canucks made out pretty well on this one. They were never going to get as good a player in return but the quantity is very good.

Zeev is a long way away from Hughes, Rossi is diet diet diet Logan Cooley, and Ohgren isn't anything. It's better than I would've expected but it's still a major loss for Vancouver.

No it didn’t, it hurted their future but nothing from that trade would have helped them now

Anyway they are a serious challenger for McKenna now

Damn. That’s why you don’t wait until the contract is expiring to decide to trade a player.

A guy who tells me things says the Canucks were told Hughes would like to move on sooner than later and this was been in the works for a few weeks.

.... well prob not but it sure screwed them that year. If they would have kept Kuzmenko for the PP they would have beat the Oilers. lol

That's a great haul for Quinn.

Even optically that's a win. You can sell that to the fanbase in a big way.

There were murmurs Buium didn’t want to play in Canada, and it impacted where he went in the draft. Doesn’t get a choice now, he’s a long way from home.
