I found this amusing, in hindsight.
"Jarry’s 2024-25 was a hellish fever dream in which he allowed a goal on the first shot he faced six times in 22 games before the Pens waived and demoted him. To call him a volatile option would be a gross understatement."

A hellish fever dream might be the only thing that keeps Jarry warm in Edmonton this winter.

I don't get this deal. Jarry isn't much better than Skinner, and they gave away one of their only decent defencemen in Kulak. How does this make the Oilers better, lol?
Their defensive game is really their main problem, and this deal makes them worse in that department.

If it works it’s a steal. I’m not predicting that either way beyond saying it might work.

The guy was on waivers last season...a steal?

There are an awful lot of goalies without trade protection around the leagues that are letting out a huge sigh of relief today, I have to imagine!

Lol! They're going to have to invent a new contractual clause.
"We can't offer you an NTC or NMC."
"How about a Just Not Edmonton clause?"

Good on Dubas for capitalizing on that bounce-back window. Won’t be surprised if it turns out to be a mirage.

Shhhhhh, it's been years and they still haven't figured it out. We don't want to tip them off now.

This is exactly why it doesn't make sense at all. Like I said, I'd rather Skinner who already has 50 GP under his belt. I bet he signs with a team in the offseason that could give him the defense he deserves.

If you want a funny read go to ESPN for their take on the trade. The funniest part is when they talk about Knoblauch system that has made the Oilers one of the best defensive teams in the NHL using stats like shots against, expected goals etc.
Priceless how they think the Oilers are good defensively.

Oiler fans I know are not pleased with this trade. For this I am happy. For an unhappy Oiler fan is the best kind of Oiler fan

What it tells me is they hade to move Kulak to get under the cap with Jarry and they don't have a defenceman in the system who can play in the NHL so they had to trade for Statsney because he has played some in the league.

Had an oilers fan tell me today that it was probably decent for both teams to swap goalies. I said that one goalie was twice the price of the other and his response was but “that doesn’t matter because it’s under the cap.”
I pointed out that a defenseman was included to make the money work…and a second round pick.
He asked why would pens need to add a d-man and a draft pick? I told him to get checked for dyslexia.
He wouldn’t take my call later. Haha. No good!

Right. If it works, it's a steal.
There is no reason to conclude that it will.
If it doesn't work, they have tied themselves to a 5+ $M waiver wire goaltender for this year and 2 more years.
If it doesn't work (more likely) any window that might have existed is closed

Is Jarry supposed to be an upgrade?
I hope Blowman also knows this Stastney is a discount Stastny. You aren't getting Paul or Peter.

Congrats Stu Skinner!
You'll find the Captain in Pittsburgh has a way better temper and leadership acumen than McTantrumPants.
I hope you're treated with class and go on to dominate.
