The Snow Thrower Thread or Snow Blower thread

I'm trying to remember where this place is or what it was called, but there's a second hand shop that sells a bunch of open box Costco returns and they had a mountain of electric snow shovels, snow blowers and leaf blowers. I went in this fall and got a leaf blower and snow shovel for like a third of what Costco wanted for them and they work great. The blower is easy when it's just a light dusting of snow and the shovel, while a bit heavy to use, just obliterates heavier or thicker stuff so it takes maybe 30 seconds to shovel my walk and sidewalk and about the same to do the back of the house. Do any of you have experience using a battery powered leaf blower to clear snow? We've been thinking for the majority of the snow in Calgary it's light enough that a blower would probably be ok but again we want to avoid the hassle of gas powered.

Yes, that is what I have, and it's great for the majority of the time. Light, quiet, and like you would think, more often than not, it's enough.

I've never used my blower for snow but I see my neighbours use theirs for it frequently and seems to work ok.

I got one of the shovel style ones this year and so far I like it. Makes pretty quick work of things. I got one with the adjustable vanes and I would recommend those since it makes it easier to keep stuff where you want it to go.

Maybe the only drawback is if the wind is coming from the direction you're throwing and it's light and fluffy you get a lot all over you.. but that would probably be the case for using a bigger snow blower or a blower too.

But the snow shovel blower thing has been worth the $$ so far IMO.

Can I ask what model you have? Wondering what the sweet spot between power and weight is going to be.

I’d have to check the model (and I can), but mine is a Stihl and I probably would’ve bought the strongest version. I’ll have a look at the model though.

Been pretty good... seems like the front sides are wearing down from the ruts in my concrete, so hitting a big crack nowadays comes to a full halt and I have to tip the front upwards to get over the irregularities.

For stairs I use the LB7650; also got the car drying attachment.

Zero problems getting the driveway / double-long sidewalk done with the batteries on full.

Works great even on the 10cm days. Not so great if it's slushy but still doable.
